Greetings, I made my PC cable and and hooked up my laptop to my bike and it worked great but today I cannot connect to the bike at all. ECMspy shows the com port is open but when I click to connect I receive a communications time out error. I have VCP installed and everything appears to be functioning as it should. Any ideas???? |

Key on, switch on? After you tell ECMSpy what kind of Bike/Firmware you have, make sure to click the "keys" button in the upper left (online/offline switch). If this doesn't work, try to query the ECM (the button that looks like a chip). Tell the program to "Fetch Byte", then "Close Window". This usually works for me. If you're still having trouble, let me know. You may need to reset the ports on your computer. Do you have the "instruction manual" for ECMSpy? |

Hi Elf, Can you query the ECM before clicking the connect button? If so that, I have not tried. I also might un-install the software and VCP drivers and start fresh. Frustrates me as the night before it worked great and I did not change anything. |

Dale, Can I ask you where you got the PC cable. I am looking at doing the ECMspy program too but need to get the correct cable hookup. any help would be great. Thanks! |

I'm pretty sure you can query before hitting the connect button. The connect button needs to not be clicked if you're going to reset the AFV or the TPS. It's only clicked if you need to monitor the bike when its running (I think ) |
