today, my wife and i headed out for a ride. right after dentist appt. went up hwy 4. road going over beautiful country. the road is wide enough for two full size trucks. but there is NO center line. now, granted i have been on some very sprited rides lately, and my wife complained i was going to fast around the corners. to me i felt that i had enough time to stop or avoid any fun spoiler. but to my wife, it wasn't a safe speed. well, all turned out with no worry. and i just wanted to vent. |

While riding a passenger, always ride within the passengers comfort zone. Not only is it the right thing to do, it's the safest thing to do. The last thing you want is for your passenger to flinch, and get stiff, or lean the wrong way while you're trying to navigate a deep turn. Besides, don't you want her to enjoy the ride? |

Glitch - you're a good hubby! Sslowmo - I must say that I feel the same as your wife does. M2nc can ride "his ride" when solo, but when I'm with him he has to ride "my ride". While I love riding with him, my comfort zone is not even close to what his is. It's not a selfish issue. It comes down to if I'm not comfortable, I'm not riding with him or anyone else. You'll have to decide if it's worth the compromise if you want your wife to ride with you. |

Break her in slowly so you build up HER confidence. Nowadays I can ride like a maniac with my Sweetie 'cause she knows what I can do and I won't put her at risk. We didn't start out that way... it took years. Now I ride nearly as fast with her as without. |

Someone needs to have a talk with Nevrenuf's wife. The guy was drifting his M2 a few times with her on the back... in front of me. I'm not sure, but it seemed like she was egging him on, too. There were few high pitched screams, but they were coming from me trying to keep up with them. I'm not joking. One or possibly both of them are insane. |

there's a combination of things that made that ride possible. following good riders, having a great ride(02m2 cyclone, best bike ever and i don't have to tell you that dan), 25 years of marriage putting up with my stupid a$$ and knowing not to shift after falling on the ultra and feeling more comfortable on the bike than in a car. sslowmo, the only advice i can give you is if she isn't comfortable don't push it, you don't need her to freak at the wrong time. i don't know whether her having her own bike matters, but it might, so you might want to try that route to get her more interested. good luck either way and have fun. Thanks for taking the ribbing in a good natured way Nevrenuf. When I was following Neil and his wife back from Deals Gap, Neil rode in complete control and it was obvious he and his wife were very comfortable at the speeds they were going. It was an impressive display of control and composure. (they're insane) |

LOL that's funny about neverenuf. I had a friend back in the day we would both go riding with our girls. He had a new at the time FZR1000. She was insane too and always egged him on to go faster. He rode faster 2 up then I would even consider safe solo. The fact that I was on a Honda Hawk with about 60hp to his FZR's 140hp didn't help either. I had to ring the poor honda's neck to even remotely keep up. LOL |

I liked Erik's story about the girl he rode on the back of his bike that wanted him to do a wheelie. He said he did a little one and she wanted more. So he stood it up and she disappeared! That lead to some engineering involving some Buell motorcycle(please forgive me, I have seen them but can't remember which one) having a fold up back rest. |
