Anyone notice how there is only what appears to be 1/16 of an inch clearence between the rear tire and the plastic belt guard. Do I have anything to worry about if im riding with a 160+ lbs passenger, I weigh 210lbs and with a passenger I worry if there is going to be rubbing/damage. thanks, Victor 03 XB9R | ||

I'd suggest setting your shock preload adjustments accordingly, if you haven't already. | ||

The belt guard is attached to the swingarm and so moves with the tire/wheel. No worries. What Apex said too, along with increasing compression damping accordingly. | ||

My question is how do you both fit on the bike? I have a 9S and taking my wife for a ride is torture, talk about a nutcracker. And I'm 5'7" 160 and she's 5'2" 110. Good reason to get another bike though! J. | ||

J- The R's have a lot more passenger room than the S's, so it's not as big a deal as you would think. Viros01x1 - Ditching the stock pillion seat for the cushy "custom" one, was well worth the cost. I highly recommend it if you want to keep your girl happy. 8) -Geof | ||

Firebolt owners, if you installed the lowered Lightning pegs for your comfort, want to increase your passenger's comfort too? I moved the passenger pegs down and forward about 3 inches each way. How? Simply swap left and right peg brackets. First unbolt the brackets, remove the heel guards & pegs -- watch out for the spring loaded ball! Carve about 1/8" more clearance off the rear edge of the rear holes in the plastic underpan. Install the left bracket on the right & vice versa. Temporarily fit a peg in a bracket and note the pointed area where the peg touches when stowed. This slight interference will prevent the peg from clicking in the up position. File this area flat about 1/16" or so until the peg folds up all the way. Reinstall the spring, ball & detent plate to the peg & secure with the clip. The result is a new spacing about 9 1/4" from the front pegs and about 3" higher than the front. This is a noticeable difference from stock. With this mod & Buell's touring passenger seat, she has better leg leverage to keep from sliding forward. Now she doesn't cringe when I say, "Let's go for a ride on the Firebolt."
