Trying to locate a smaller tire guard/hugger for the rear on the SS, and possibly a smaller chain guard. The stock guard is a huge piece of plastic that I don't think flows well with the lines of the bike. Not sure if any of the XBS pieces would fit. Any ideas? I haven't seen an SS up close. Is the belt guard integrated with the rear fender? If not the 03XB9 rear fender is pretty small. I am not sure if it works with the later swing arm though. So, all in all I've been no help at all. |

On the Lightning Long, Super TT and Ulysses the belt guard and hugger are a single piece. The hugger is also used to secure the rear brake line on these models. |

I started to remove them from my Firebolt but I didn't like the mounting tabs just sticking up. |

I agree that the hugger/beltgaurd on the Ss is hideous. Looking at the Ss and the XB9SX side by side I don't think you can swap. I'm just going to take a Dremel to my Ss hugger/beltgaurd to trim it down. |

I cut the belt guard piece off - no big deal. I suppose you could cut back the hugger too. I opted to leave it on as I ride gravel roads and prefer to protect the shock.

I'd rather NOT expose the belt like that (especially since you just said you ride on gravel a lot). I just replaced the heavy plastic with Carbon Fiber. Looks just fine to my eye. To each his own. |

Jerseyguy, Might that be Kevin"s carbon drummer on your bike? I see it, yeah that's right, it's right there in the picture. NICE |

I've only got Tuber experience, but the huggers and guards are real easy to re-work with a Dremel and /or belt grinder and a little planning and patience. |

Tank - Yeah, that's the prototype Drummer CF. No issues at all as of yet. No problems with the belt guards off either, and I ride a rough gravel lane every day to work. |

Removing the belt guards definitely cleans it up a bit but I think I would leave the bottom one on. It's not as ugly and obtrusive as the top and serves an important function of keeping debris from getting to the sprocket. |
