I purchased my 07 XB9SX a month ago and have been wanting to make some modifications. I am a computer nerd and not a mechanic so please bare with me... 1. Jardine exhaust "want a Drummer, but can't afford one" Can I still mount the Chin fairing? 2. K&N air Filter Do I need to modify the stock Airbox? 3. Crossroads 0 degree Is cable routing as tough as people have talked about? 4. Pazzo Short Levers Will I need to adjust the Clutch Cable? And a bunch of other cosmetic changes: LED integrated tail (Clear Alternatives), Chopped tail (American Sport Bike), Seat Cowl (American Sport Bike), Bar End Mirrors, LED front Signals, eventually right side scoop. One other big question How do I get my wife to understand why I want to change a brand new bike? Thanks | ||

There is no cheaper... you wanna motorcycle hobby it come with a price tag and it ain't cheap. Wanna play you gotta pay.LOL Until they virtually learn to ride and feel the freedom's it gives in return there is no understandability..... is that a word??? | ||

Should have seen the look on my wifes face when she walked into the garage the night I brought my XB12r home a month ago. I quickly took the die grinder to the rear reflectors, started pulling stickers off and removal of the bitch pegs. She walked out of the garage shaking her head LMAO | ||

It's called personalization. To make her understand tell her that she has to wear the same earings and the same shoes whenever she wears a certain outfit, that she can't change it from time to time. | ||

Compare it to giving the bike a makeover or something along those lines. The best hobbies are expensive. If you want a cheap hobby that involves 2 wheels stop by WalMart and buy a mountain bike! ;) | ||

How do I get my wife to understand why I want to change a brand new bike? Ask her if she moves the seat, steering wheel, mirrors, and radio in YOUR car when she drives it. If so, why? Unfortunately, most bikes lack adjustability. Therefore, you have to buy and install the "adjustments". I replaced my handlebars, grips, clamps, seat, etc. I will be adding either the Pazzo or CRG levers. I have thick pig farmer fingers and the last inch of clutch lever travel gets "dumped" much of the time as the last finger slipps off the lever. I want the adjustment that the stock clutch lever lacks. Even a new bike has aspects of it that just don't fit its new rider. | ||

Interesting............................. The Harley Davidson guys look at their bikes as an investment................ Japper type guys see their bikes as a hobby (see what happened when the Feds outlawed model glue) and bastardize the crap out of them.............. The BMW / Gold wing add every high tech and modern convenience thing to their bikes to make them as comfy as staying at home....................... I don't get it.................. I thought motorcycles were transportation, not a way to express ones self.  | ||

Well thanks for all the help... The wife just doesn't get it. Compromise was the only way. I can only accomplish some of the upgrades before winter. The rest during the winter break... that just gives me more time to add to my list of upgrades... | ||

I would go with the comfort mods first. Speed mods have a way of losing their sensory impact sooner. If you add a speed mod, you don't notice that you've added it after a while. If the bike is uncomfortable, you notice it EVERY time you ride. I would recommend also that you add Lyndall's front brake pads to your immediate mod list. Weird but the best speed mod is the brakes. If you don't feel comfortable with the stopping power on your bike, you don't push as hard. You'll always leave an extra margin of error on speed to compensate for the brakes. | ||

Aldaytona... I disagree. If all vehicles were just transportation there would be only one type. We would all be riding and driving cookie cutter Hondas. I have been lusting after a Buell for a long time. They are unique, and I believe in Erik's design philosophy. The bike handles better than anything I have ridden and there is enough power where it counts. If I just wanted transportation I would have bought a Honda for 3k less. I'm in it for the fun and excitement riding Buells brings, the transportation is just a bonus. P.S. There is nothing wrong with Hondas, I worked in there Engineering Department for 2yrs, great designs and ideas, but they are just too plain for me. | ||
