I got the Buell side bags for the 07 Scg. they fit all right except the straps that go under the seat seem to be about 3 inches too short and also the rear strap(if it were the right length)looks like it will go right over the seat lock. Am I doing something wrong or is this a design error or a bad production run? Seems odd to me when everything else is engineered so well by Buell. Thanks

I was wondering about fit of the side bags. I have a XB12Ss. The smaller tail bag fits just fine, but the one strap has to go around the seat clips. I have put off ordering the side bags because I want to see them first in person.

they are very nice and I think they would even be nicer if they could be attached to the bike. Perhaps there is some way that Buell could come up with an extender strap for the straps that go under the seat. I also wanted the tail bag that snaps onto the side bags, but if I cannot get a work around it looks like I will need to go some place else.

It took me awhile to figure out the proper way to attach to my XB9S.
The key was to pull the bags as far forward, so that they contact the passenger footpeg bracket.
All the other straps then fit well.
The bags do ride high. - most of the strap is under the seat.

I had the same problem with my Scg. I install an integrated tail light and move the bag farther back. now I can have a passenger with bags installed. a Corbin seat seat improves the look but I just don't thing the bags set right on a Scg.

I tried the side bags for the Lightning Long and ended up returning them. Without the optional tail bag to hold them together, they would not sit right. The under-seat straps were just too long. The anchor points were not well considered (tightening the strap to the passenger peg bracket resulted in the strap coming off of the reflector bracket.

The saddlebags I looked at were not even close to the quality and fit of their tank bags.

Buell needs to come up with either a removable hard bag system or some kind of bolt-on tube frame to support their soft bags.

Hi all, I´m new here, hello to everybody !

My gf has these bags on her Long - with no problems whatsoever.. You have to follow the instructions however- until the first strap was UNDER the harness, the seat couldnt be fully locked. Bags look good on the bike..

On a related note - I was very disappointed with the Buell tank MASK - it has a hard sharp stitches on the inside, and would scratch the tank in no time.. I didnt even try to put it on ..

Then one of the following must be true:

1. Buell has a quality control problem and the bags are not all the same.
2. You and your girlfriend are not nearly as particular as I am (which could be, since I had Givi luggage on my previous bike).

Another poster wrote: "They flop around a little, and hang "down" a little..." Not my cup of tea, thank you.

I didn't follow the instructions -- I installed the bags and then verified that what I figured out on my own was exactly what the directions said to do. The parts guy came out to check, comparing the installation to the pictures in the directions. He agreed that the straps were too long and that the bags did not look good on the bike.

On a related note - I was very disappointed with the Buell tank MASK - it has a hard sharp stitches on the inside, and would scratch the tank in no time.. I didnt even try to put it on ..

Thanks for the heads up on that one.

Fmaxwell-That sure is interesting. The straps on mine are too short. I guess the theroy one size fits all just does not work, or there is a quality control problem with the maker of the bags.

Yeah, installing bags is no rocket science
We didnt mess with reflector relocation brackets (I took mine off anyway as these are not mandatory here).
And picky or not - we have Harleys too, far from stock after those years, so we are quite partial about the crap we put on our bikes

And considering that I work in Integration and Test on satellites and space probes, installing the bags was not too challenging. In fact, I test rode my first Buell while at Cape Canaveral for a launch campaign this year.

Didn't mean to imply otherwise, but what matters to some doesn't matter to others. Some people worry themselves to death about having shiny, smudge-free chrome or perfect color coordination. I'm more the type to get anal about frame pucks being misaligned by 1/16" relative to one another.

Now that´s funny - I am just waiting for the pucks to arrive and was just thinking yesterday How am I gonna make them perfectly aligned
