I have a 2003 XB9S with the factory race kit - race ECM, exhaust, air filter, and snorkle removed. I am thinking of switching from the race exhaust to a D & D. I'd be interested to hear comments from anyone who has had both mufflers and whether or not the TPS will need to be re-set? |

Why would you need to reset your throttle position sensor?????? It has absolutely nothing to do with the muffler. |

When I took my D&D off and installed the Race Muffler, I checked my TPS. It needed resetting. If nothing else, it couldn't hurt checking the TPS. PS. It already had the Race ECM installed. |

Changing Your pipe would not have an effect on TPS, However while Your having the pipe changed it would be a good idea to do a TPS reset just to make sure that variable that effects running condition is within spec. MARK |

I did the exact thing your asking about and when the bike would get to about 4000 RPMs the power took a nose dive (sputter and hesitate) until 4500 RPMs then it would smooth back out. I don't know if that had anything to do with the TPS or not. I don't remember if it was reset when the shop put the D&D pipe on. I asked Al at American Sportbike about the power drop off and he seemed puzzled as to why that was happening, maybe it was an isolated incident, maybe it was the TPS, but one thing I do know is that the D&D pipe is loud as hell. |
