So... I go to the dentist to get the choppers cleaned....... Turns out I've been "pre-billled" for a crown later..... My insurance maxed out about $400 ago...... While I'm in the chair a gal comes in and says: "I don't want to make you anxious but the guy from the lab downstairs just backed over your motorcycle." Turns out he was VERY cool about the whole thing. It just tipped over. Damage report: Chewed on the bar end mirror. BROKE the left peg. NOW.....Am I nuts or did someone say there's an aftermarket solution to these superlight/fragile things? Need info fast. Would like to ride this weekend if possible. Oh yeh... Just a thought, If you put on stronger foot pegs, then if it tips over again, you may break something much more expensive, I know the the foot pegs are relatively inexpensive, I have already broken one of mine. | ||

It looks like the pegs are designed to break off so that the bike is still rideable after being dropped. Imagine if nothing was left of the peg after dropping it over. It could make it impossible to ride. Many clutch and brake levers have v notches in them so they will break and still leave enough lever to operate the bike. The guy who hit your bike is an idiot. I never understood how one hits something that is stationary! | ||

Ha! Guy in a pickup knocked mine over WHILE IT WAS SITTING IN THE SERVICE CENTER! Moron wanted to drop his Harley off INSIDE the door and caught my front tire as he was backing in, spilling it into another bike. What a dope! In regards to the broken peg, I would hope that, if you had a stronger peg, then nothing would break. There's no rule stating something has to give every time it falls over. If you have the frame pucks, axle sliders, and sturdy controls, there's nothing else to even make contact. ~SM | ||

I have made solid mount billet pegs on mine because I do tip over (the price of continuing to ride when you have a bum leg) and having a peg break every time was getting a bit ridiculous. The rearsets have survived several low speed tip-overs with no externally visible issues. YMMV | ||

just carry your rear passenger pegs or take them off the rear if you still have them on they work fine, just cant use the spring. | ||

Yup, but quite pricey for a stick of metal. "Billet aluminum" must be street slang for "gold plated". Not raggin' Al... those were the prices when he was getting them from Crossroads. EDIT: Oops, I was thinking foot controls... ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on July 12, 2007) | ||

Try the traction pegs, you should be able to pick up or have them overnighted from a Buell Dealer. I have been running my S with them for 3 years. | ||

I skipped worrying about a drop of a cm or so, I was just happy to get rid of the cheap "pot metal" stock pegs. |
