I have the race kit on a XB12scg. My wife and neighbors REALLY want something quieter. What will happen if I keep the race ECM and cut airbox but put the stock can back on? Obviously no valve control from the race ECM, so I'd have to leave the valve open. Would it run too rich and foul the plugs? Would the ECM adjust? |

The fueling map in the stock ECM matches the stock pipe nearly perfectly. The race ECM would be rich at some RPM's and lean at other's. The race ECM is just not intended for use with the stock pipe, your performance would likely suffer. |

I had my bike set up like that for a while and went back to the stock ECM. The Race ECM with K&N and stock pipe hesitated and rode like crap. Now I have K&N, stock ECM, and stock pipe and it is perfect. I did have the full Race kit on, but I hated the finish of the Race Pipe and the power dip was right where I ride, stock pipe restored my around town and tight twisty performance and my ears have thanked me ever since. --Sean |

That is NO joke about it being LOUD !!! I have a 99 X1 with the Wileco Exhaust... Good tone and not loud... just a good rumble.. My OTHER 99X1 has the FULL BUELL RACE system... that thing MAKE MY EARS HURT!!!! I rode it to work today trying to solve out a TPS issue... DAMN.. its loud... Even WORSE when you go by a car, tunnel or a bridge with high curbed areas.... Matt. |
