Ok, so here's my thoughts. Flame away if you need to.

I've always had a small part of me that liked sport bikes, but never got one. Then I found the Buell XB line. To me, that bike hit the styling dead on. All the lines are perfect. And what I like most is that you don't see them everywhere. I'm one of those guys who has to stand out in the crowd. I want a bike that is "different". To the extent that I put a full body kit on my XB to be different from all the other XB's around my area. I want to make sure my bike is not like yours. So Buell puts out this new 1125R, and everyone is going nuts. Ooo, water-cooled this, more power that. Whatever. Now the bikes that I liked because they were different have the same type of engine in them that all the other rice rockets have. And who's idea were them big stupid looking air scoops? Holy cow, those things are huge! Me, I'm not impressed. And the 1125R, it's not "different".

They still have a full line of improved XB's

I disagree. The 'scoops' grew on me; I think now I'd prefer them to a full fairing. The 1125R is very different in just that aspect. If it came in the 2008 12R white color scheme, it'd be just about perfect...

Yeah - I love the 1125R but I'll keep racing the XB.

The XB and air-cooled motors are going to be with us a long time yet.

I look at this in the same context as Ducati - their liquid cooled superbikes and then their Monster and SuperSport and their other air-cooled bikes.

There's plenty of demand and if the XB12 based models have attractive pricing, they'll still sell - so far they look to be a couple $grand lower than the 1125R

Haven't made up my mind just yet about my next streetbike however!

Really? What 'rice rocket' has a 146 hp 72 degree v-twin?

My XB9S is a fine streetbike, but air cooling has limitations. If you want to be competitive at the highest levels the only choice is liquid cooling, PERIOD.

I'm talkin' more about a 10,000+rpm water cooled setup. There is no way that it will sound like the Buell sound I love so much. But hey, the new XB's should take care of me right? Like I said in the beginning. . .

It's just my thoughts, I'm not saying they have to be yours. I will say this, you can definitely see the styling from the XBRR front fairing on that new 1125R. Now it needs the ram-air!

The bike HAS ram air, but without that unsightly snorkel of the XBRR.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. The buzz is a cool way to gauge the excitement of this historic event.

I'm sure all this chatter is very gratifying to the folks at Buell who worked so hard on this achievement and kept it a secret this long.

I have to say that I am sad to see this day. The juxtaposition of the Old tech engine in the High tech chassis is what drew me to my Buell, and that engine is the heart and soul of the bike.

The vibration is the heartbeat. his new motor has three balancer shafts and can be solidly mounted. Where's the fun in that.

I have owned a Rotax powered Aprilia before, and it was a souless appliance. I love my Buell and plan on keeping it, but the next addition to the stable will not be this new Buell, the passion it ignites in me is not the good kind.

I see a HyperMotard, or maybe a Street Triple in my future.

I hope tht buell continues on with the air cooled lump i love so much or if and when my beloved cityx dies it may be my last. on the other hand when the buells first came out i was horrified by the tuber...and they evolved into the incredible XB, maybe buell will prove me wrong again!!!!!

+2 Garp & Ustorque! I too will be looking at the new XB12r or whatever comes after that when I look for a new Buell. To each his own, that's why so many different bikes are out there right? To me, the XB bikes are way sexier than that 1125r.

Haha, it has nothing to do with America, especially with so many members from outside the US. I was just commenting on the amount of new threads that are just saying making a comment on the new bike. But its ok, I aint mad at ya.

Funny, some felt the same way when the XB came out. Over time I came to except the "new baby" into the family. It will just time for us all to get use to this new member.

I'm Impressed!

They managed to build a completely new bike and also fix some of the problems on the XB models while reducing the price by $500.

I agree 100%! I thought the same myself.

And the 1125R, it's not "different".

Sure it is. It may not be as different as the Firebolt or Lightning, but it still is different.

The looks definitely gravitated more towards a "me too" Japanese look, but really the engine makes it more European-like than Jap. It seems that the V-twin Jap sport bikes never fared all that well in terms of units sold, especially in comparison to the inline 4s. Ducati and Aprilia stick with the V-twin format in their sport bikes.

I meant because the European sport bikes (i.e. Ducati and Aprilia) tend to have big twins instead of inline 4 cylinders, Captain Obvious... Of course this isn't a hard and fast rule.

Triumph uses primarily triples and fours in their sport bikes. MuZ uses a parallel twin. BMW uses inline fours along with boxer twins, parallel twins and singles. MV Agusta uses inline fours, Benelli uses a triple.

The V-Twin manufacturers you missed are Moto Guzzi (but they mount their V-Twin funny, so I can understand the omission) and KTM. I don't know if I should count Bimota and Vyrus as they source their engines from Ducati.

In any event, you really can't say European bikes use PRIMARILY V-Twins, because in reality they're all over the map when it comes to powerplants.

True. There are too many European brands to even remember. I should have said popular Italian brands meaning Ducati and Aprilia. Maybe I'm alone, but when I think European sport bike these two companies come to mind first.
