My fork are leaking, as I try to take them apart to replace the seals, I cant seem to get the preload adjuster off. Its unthreaded as far as I can turn it without meeting serious resistance and I tug on it a little to try and seperate it from the fork cap but it wont come free. Any input???? |

You did remove the little circlips off of the damper adjusters first didn't you? |

Saintly I knew you would have some input. I have your fork oil change post printed out in front of me. I got one side off and realized that I hadnt taken the stopper ring off the other side yet when I started cranking on it. I crushed it pretty good, but I was able to get it off. Know where I can get a new one?? |

I zinged mine across the shop somewhere. It appears cir clips are not very popular Buell was the only place I could gt one. I road my bike for a couple of weeks until one came in. I think its only function in life is to keep the damper rod from coming apart if the adjuster nut falls off. If you cant notice that big nut (plug) coming off, as it would be unbelievably noticeable, you probably should work on your observation skills. If you are talented enough to disassemble your forks, you far exceed this threshold. |
