I'd be interested if Buell produced a motard.

I too would like a motard to sport about on.

It is a shame that the Buell isn't more agricultural. I really could use a Uly with a (preferably) live PTO unit on it. Imagine all the tasks you could do with it!

Rototill the garden, sicklebar mow the hedges, split four cord of wood and THEN ride at 100+Mph to see your favorite lady for a bit of post-agricultural action.

I will take mine in green with a nice yellow trim, please.

The production bike looks like they took the prototype, and "over inflated" the whole thing. It seems to have lost some of that lean and light feel that made the prototype so attractive to me.

Somewhere I saw true wet rolling weights... and the Duc came in a bit heavier then the XB. I also saw true dynos, and the Duc came in either right the same, or just an HP or so higher (which is well in the error margin for different dynos).

Perhaps their S version does better, I think it's lighter and makes more power... for another $2000 or so (as I recall).

Don't get me wrong though, that hypermotard is a great looking bike and I would be my first pick of any of the Ducatti bikes, and probably in my "top 5" list for bikes I would own and ride.

Bill,

The black background and the lack of passenger pegs/bracketry has a major slimming effect on the Hypermotard marketing photo.

Removing the oil cooler didn't hurt either, nor did the 3 inches removed between the top of the tail light assembly and the top of the exhausts. : )

Looks like the headlight assembly grew a couple inches thicker as well. And the frame tubes (particularly around where the frame and tail section join) look "fatter" as well.

Still, a *very* cool production bike, and the motorcycle community is made far richer by it's release. Good job Ducati!

Can't have this much discussion of the Hypermotard without a link to the video:

I agree with Trojan; Buell definitely needs an update, not a new color selection. This past weekend I test rode a BMW R1200S, and when I jumped back on mine I really noticed the "agricultural" technology of my bike.

Granted, the XB frame is beautiful and amazing, but the frame alone doesn't make the bike, does it?

That guys is insane. I think that's the cover shot for the newest issue of Motorcyclist. I absolutely love that shot. Most of us can't back a bike into a turn safely and under control and this guy is doing it one-handed with a knee down! Awesome. If somebody knows where I can get a larger higher quality version if this I'd love to use it as my wallpaper.

After I saw that vid, I knew I wanted to have an affair. I'm on the list for a test ride for the july release here in vancouver. I'll be sure to ride in my best Xaus-like fashion. yeah, right.

Gotta love that smoking tire on that pic too!
