i've got oil "leaking" out from the clutch cable down at my shifter. It seems it's not bad enough to actually puddle on the garage floor or anything, but more of a mist that is there after every ride...is this something i should be worried about? as i said, nothing has actually even hit the garage floor, but there's definitively a little oil on the cable as it hits the lower fairing. any input on the matter would be much appreciated... |

Welcome to the club. Just enough to catch dust but not enough to drip. Nothing to worry about. If it ain't puddling, it ain't a problem. I learned from my years of experience with air cooled VW motors that a complete seal was simply not possible due to the temperature variations of air cooling. I believe the same is true of Buells as well. Ever seen a tractor with a spotless crank case? |

You need a new O ring that goes at the end of your clutch cable. |

Mine leaked and had it replaced under warranty. New one leaks worse and lets water into the primary when ridden in a light rain. I'd wait until you bring the bike in for something else if want to get it fixed or wait to see if it gets worse. |

well, it looks like more than a mist actually...i looked again this morning, and sure enough, there's actually "liquid" on the cable, and a small "puddle" on my lower fairing where the cable and fairing touch...still nothing on the floor, so it can't be that bad - so the advice is to run it like this for a while, and bring it in when i need some other service? or get it in ASAP? it should still be covered under warranty, unless the dealer will jack me around because of my drummer, and a few other light mods....hmmm |
