How many out there have had problems with the cooling fan? After only a year and just over 3000 miles my fan sounds terminally ill. Past warranty so I'm pissed. Did Buell get a deal from a supplier in Azerbajanni? Anything else to look for besides replacement? Not looking for sympathy, just venting. Bought a new bike for dependability. Guess I'm better off with the older stuff. |

Are you sure the warranty expired? My 2004 had a factory two year warranty. Unless Buell shortened it you should have coverage. And what do you mean by terminally ill? |

Easy fix. Your Buell is in warranty. I've yet to hear of a Buell owner who got the "oh gosh. . we're sorry, your bike is 9 days out of warranty" Take it the your local dealer, it should be taken care of with much less drama than it was reported with. Enjoy.

Hey guys, thanks. I didn't get around to looking and assumed my warranty was over. Case of over reacting (and stupidity). Do you think they would give me the part since the dealer is a bit far and I don't want the bike tied up too long? By the way the fan is groaning and is spinning at inconsistent slow speed. I'm assuming it's the fan itself unless someone out there knows of another problem. |

any warrenty work would have to be done by the dealer or it will in turn void ur warrenty |

did you try to hit it with a little WD40? My computer fan was doing that a short blast of WD and it's been humming like new for over a year now... not sure how similar they are as I've never inspected it personally but, at a glance it looks to be the same design... |

I'll try it. Looks to be tough to get at with the rear shock in the way. Don't think I want to take this job on. |

>>>Do you think they would give me the part since the dealer is a bit far and I don't want the bike tied up too long? The answer to that is no for reasons previously detailed. However, a few kind words of explantion should go along way in working out a ride in, wait and ride out deal with your dealer. If they offer any concern about getting the warranty part prior to looking at your bike that's an easy fix to . . the folks at Buell Customer Service ride and understand. Kind words and think "solution". By the way . . I like the WD40 thing. My wife totally embarrassed me last weekend when I told her something was toast, she zapped it with one squirt and it was like new. I was so frickin' humbled!

I did that with an attic fan awhile ago and I got a couple of more years out of it. |

My fan died a very loud and annoying death too. You could probably call the dealer and explain it and have them call n have it covered under warranty and either drop your bike at the shop for like 2 hours or maybe get the dealer to ship you the part. the job is not hard at all even with the rear shock in the way it takes less than an hour to swap them out. |

As an update, I started it up in the garage today and let it warm up. I took the seat off and shut it down. It went on at high speed and after about thirty seconds cut to slow speed and eventually went off just like it should. Wasn't like that yesterday or the ride before that. What gives. I'm stumped. |

Crappy bearings Did it sound like there was a rock or ten in there when it was acting up? |

Didn't sound like rocks. Sounded more like it was partially seized. I'll check it out again next ride. Sounds like I'm on the way to a dealer. |

Frankfast, install a right side air scoop and you will be impressed with how little the fan runs. |

Mine died around 13k. Became very erratic like it was getting variable voltage and then finally just didn't come on at all. Dealer replaced under warranty. |

Sounds like the fan going out is pretty common, (hope not) mine went out at 5000 miles, luckily my dealer is only a few miles away. But even then I told them the problem, they ordered the part and installed it when the fan arrived. Sometimes they listen. |
