Has anyone done this before? If so, how many parts are needed aside from the obvious? Is it even physically possible? I found a really nice Firebolt that I'd like to buy, but I'm more in love with the look of the Lightnings... Thanks guys/gals. |

Quite a few have swapped tails or front ends. I kept the R front and swapped to an S tail and it was very simple. Do a search. There are many threads on this topic. It will be quite a few parts, but it is all plug-and-play. I don't know what you consider 'obvious' parts, but one thing you may not have thought of is that you will need a new wiring harness. The Firebolt has all of the electronics in the front fairing, while the Lightning has them under the seat. |

Cereal is correct, some people have done it in the past but it is much easyier to go from a lightning to a firebolt then from a firebolt to a lightning. there really is not room under the fly screen of the lightning for the firebolt harness. but then again a few said that it would be imposible to put the 'Bolt bars on the lightning and I got it done. |

we did a complete front and rear swap from firebolt to lighting and lighting to firebolt we did both bikes in 6 hours not to bad if you have both manuels and swap all the nessary parts parts needed besides the obvious, wiring harness, brake lines, clutch cable, rear brake resivoir, ignitions, keys, seat latches and gas caps(this one is very important, we swaped everything but gas caps and couldnt get them opened when needed, then we had to fedex keys and gas cap locks back and forth) later, ron |

Thanks everyone for the responses. I didn't realize the harnesses were that much different. Sounds like more work/money that I want to do and may as well just get the Lightning to begin with.... |

Hey Ron, I'm confused. You and Glitch swapped tails, right? So all you had to do was keep your original locking mechanism from your R tail and put it in his S tail. Then your key would work on everything. Why would you swap ignitions and fuel caps instead? Sounds like 10x more work than my solution, but I could be missing something. Tq, I think I will go out on a limb and say that fitting all of the electronic from an R front fairing into a stock S front fly screen is impossible. Nick, it probably would be better to just get the one you like. It may even be cheaper in the long run. I like the R front and S tail while most others like it the other way around, so swapping with another badwebber was free. |

K so Im a little confused here. If he wants to swap tails with an S why would he need to get a new wiring harness if hes still gonna have the R front end? |

I think he was wanting to swap both ends, which would require most of electronics be relocated. |

...That seems useless to me. If you want an S get an S, if you want an R get an R. If you're like me get an R and swap the back for an S...or vice verse. At least I think that's what I'm gonna do...either that or a Blast lol |
