C'mon Court. It is exactly like a Jap bike's frame.

It's attached to a motor, two wheels, a steering head, and a rear swing arm. You straddle it, and the seat rests on it.

Don't be so obtuse. ;)

Thanks Nano and Ridrx, and Court. Positive vibes from positive folks sure is good stuff.

"I'm a construction worker and not all that bright."

Court, I may be beginning to see how you might have earned a "serial liar" rep. ;)

Hey! Why in the world do we even have those silly patents and copyrights? Apparently a bunch of folks have been wasting a lot of time and money foolishly trying to protect their intellectual innovations. I had no idea.

From what I gather, the original post wasn't intended to sell anything. I've posted my tail eliminator numerous times on here because I was proud of my work. Did I copy Odies? I don't know, I just took out my grinder and started hacking. If someone makes some wheel sliders in their own shop, why can't they show them. If others ask if they can buy them, that's their problem, not the person's who was being creative and not trying to make a profit. Just my $.02

Haha look at my votes. Aww my feelings are hurt...

Well at least people are using the voting system now!

I was just standing up for a member and I guess people don't like that and would rather suck up to the mods. Yet on the original thread almost everybody agreed with me. Odd!

Anyway, Court. Both are twin-spar aluminum frames. They're similar in function sort of like Nanotechs spools are similar in function to DHMs. Similar design and function, but still no infringement. If you don't like this example there are millions of other examples out there. Brake systems, ABS systems, crash cages, 12 O'clock bars, grips, handle bars, levers, helmets, etc. The list goes on and on.

And Cgocifer brings up a great point about the chopped tail sections.

I was fortunate or unfortunate enough to have been a spectator at a patent infringement hearing at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in D.C. The suit concerned sound diffraction equipment as it pertained to military applications. The point of contention was so wrapped in deep scientific theory and application I doubt the Judges had a clue what was being said. Patent law is some deep stuff and I don't know how anyone makes any sense out of it, especially when it involves having a working knowledge of vast and varied disciplines.

Good gosh, I feel as though I better hide my B.A.W., or get a patent, or at least stop encouraging people to experiment on ideas of their own.

I don't need a sponsorship to let the curious know how it was made or how it works compared to others do I?

Oh, I'm not a formally edimikated engenr eiffer....but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express a couple of weeks ago!

Vern,

The difference is that no one was offering to buy a B.A.W. ;)

Had there been offers the answer would be a public "no" unless there is a desire to become a sponsor. Then, by all means, sell them.

The promotion by proxy method is one that appears here quite often. "Look at these great (insert widget here). A guy in BFE is making these, and they are cool." These are usually thinly veiled marketing ploys by individuals who don't want to take the time to become sponsors. Usually posts of this sort come from folks with less than 10 posts to their credit.

There are several boards who don't police spamming to the extent here or at all. They suck because half the posts are someone pitching some piece of crap or another.

I'm glad someone is attempting to keep the board here safe and free of clutter so that there is plenty of room for open debates on the benefits and merits of water cooling, the "right" oil, loud fans, hot nuts, bad lighting, et. al.

Sometimes debates of this sort are better that watching monkeys crap in their hands and fling it at one another. : D

Hell I went all morning without feeling sorry that Paris H. was in jail, now I am out right outraged that apparently you can buy your way out of jail, pass go and collect two hundred dollars. I guess the rules are always different when you are rich. : |
