Looking at the LSL mig lights that some are putting on the lightning, it looks like they are 1 mm smaller than the stock firebolt lights, but 34 mm deeper. Has anyone played with these to see if we ( the firebolt guys) have enough room to mount them? They are a little pricey, but if I don't have to hack up my fairing I may just spring for them. |

As a data point, these lights are listed for the XB S models in the American Sport Bike catalog but not for the R models. That's not to say that they can't fit, it's that the kit is designed for a different mounting system than what would readily work on the R model. So in order to mount these inside a Firebolt fairing, it's not the fairing so much but the support bracketry inside, maybe the lights themselves, that would have to be adapted/hacked/modified to do a decent job until a Firebolt kit becomes available. I would ask Al at American Sport Bike for advice about this. If anybody would know, he's the man! |

Much as I hate to say it, the word "headlight" runs most(not ME) folks away from a thread(unless they have "the" problem, my fault I guess?). Maybe "MIG Light conversions for R's would get more responses? IIRC the MIG kit at American Sport Bike uses a fork mount? But surely it would be easy enough to fabricate a mount plate. I'd be MUCH more interested in that than any fairing mods. Has anyone checked on whether they are DOT legal? Or are they "off road use only"? As far as the size goes, I know the Hella 50mm is referring to the size of the light aperture(sp?) not the O.D. of the exposed bezel. Not sure about others. Maybe someone who has them (or Al) could chime in with an actual O.D. measurement. |

I believe it was that apature bezel, and from the looks of the mounting system, they could potentially slide in the stock mounts with little modification. just looking to see if anyone who has them (ahem....Al) has looked at putting them in an R. Yeah Riderx I've been spyin the headlight threads hopin someone finds a simple, economical solution. (Message edited by deltablue on June 07, 2007) |

I have talked with Al, and he sent me some photos. Given enough time and money you could make them fit. At their current price it would not be a good value, consider the extra work it would take to make them fit. The Hella 90mm look like still the best option (Message edited by gowindward on June 07, 2007) |

I've got them on my bike. But to make them work on a R model??? Lots of work. They are DOT legal and they are not an off road light. |
