Anyone tried to paint the swingarm in OEM color? Successes/failures? I have a decent scratch in mine from where my LSL rearset got bent into it following a collision with a deer. I guess my second question is how much is a new swingarm for an '05 CityX? Thanks in advance. John |

I had my swing arm powder coated by Pete At www.grandstanddesigns.com, fellow Bad Webber. He was able to make a perfect color match with the frame, better than the Buell touch up colors that I have tried. |

When I was removing the warning/caution sticker on the swingarm, it took some paint off. It must not have been a good prep job prior to painting. Anyway, you can get a spray can from the dealer. Due to the fact that the swingarm really isnt a glossy finish, the spray can worked fantastic |

Until you leak any kind of corrosive fluid on it. It runs right off. |

Why not use the Buell factory touch-up? It matches the Graphite Grey perfectly. Even has polarized metal flake that lays flat giving an even surface. I used the Fluid Silver on my 03 XB9S and it even filled in gouges and imperfections. For $15 a can it's way cheaper than powder and you can do it all in about a day without major disassembly. I stock it here at the shop. Smokescreen |

Thanks for all the input, guys! I will try to figure out what I'm going to do later in the week. I'm a bit of an OCD freak, so I haven't ruled out whipping the swingarm off and replacing it, but I do like the idea of the touch-up paint. Skarecrow - if you want to email some pics of your swingarm that would be great. johnjkuntziv@yahoo.com Thanks again. |
