looking to see what everyone wears for protective clothing in the hot summer. Cruising in Manhattan can get hot real quick and I'm not at all excited about wearing a heavy leather jacket. There's plenty of guys rolling around with just t-shirts but I want a little more. I'm looking at these two as options; http://www.motostrano-store.com/impactrigse.html http://www.motostrano-store.com/albiprja.html anyone else have any opinions or suggestions? |

I commute everyday on the highway and so I wear perforated leather pants and a Joe Rocket Phoenix mesh jacket. If it wasn't for riding the highway and just riding in town, I would just wear the jacket. I like the jacket because it has an 8" zipper that connects to the pants. The Thor rigs look really cool. If they had the zipper for the pants, I'd really think about one. |

I have the Joe Rocket Sonic jacket. Full leather jacket but the line comes out and full sections under the arms and down the side zip out. I love it and its comfortable on a hot day as long as your not in traffic. |

Mesh is a must! Just steer clear of Fieldsheer. The jackets are pretty good, but the pants suck. I have 2 pair (one solid one mesh), and BOTH are coming all to pieces in less than 1.5 years, and I haven't even slid in them yet! ~SM |

Check out the Vanson Ventmax III. It is a 1000 denier mesh jacket that has appropriate CE armor in the right places. I have one and I use it when the mercury climbs above 90 degrees. It is really great to ride through a sprinkler with that jacket on! |

Aside from my perforated leather first gear 2 piece, I have a set of Joe Rocket mesh, jacket and pants, as well as a Fieldsheer mesh Jacket. If I intend to screw around or ride hard there is no question, I wear leather. The mesh stuff just isn't as durable in a crash, however the mesh stuff, along with the Joe R Sahara evaporative vest can make it chilly even on HOT days. |

I just tested some Joe Rocket mesh in a 40mph slide through a corner. It held up but if I was going any faster with a longer slide, it probably would have failed. |
