I was wondering what you guys have beat out in a straight line and to what speeds? Looking for sport bikes, not cruisers. I am still new to my buell and was just interested. |

honda 929 from street light to street light. about 1/8th mile. we both had problems keeping our front tires on the ground. i had a better launch, but kept power weelieing. and he launched too hard and had the wheel in the air from the start. (btw my bike was bone stock 12 at the time with like 200 miles on it. he had a TFI unit and a Header.) i think that race was more rider skill. |

straight line i took a gsxr 600....but that was on testicular fortitude and not the bike's ability. all the guy had to do was give it more throttle to pull away. maybe he just saw the cop and i didn't..... |

VRod from stoplight to stoplight. Seems the Bolt' launched better but he would be coming up fast at each stop. Went on for about 4 stoplights and then I decided to quite acting a fool . |

I beat the hell out of this fat guy on a Burgman! I think he had a gallon of milk and a pint of B&J in the trunk. (Message edited by ft_bstrd on April 19, 2007) |

I smoked a GSXR from a stop light to freeway on ramp. It was like a World Superbike start. We both were flying. I beat him through the curve and 2/3's down the ramp. My front tire was off the ground with every upshift. I turned my eyes to the side just a little to see where he was just as he clicked 3 gear and it was over, I watched him reach 120 and slow into traffic and then up the next off ramp. He said "your little bike is quick, I wasn't sure I could catch you by the end of the ramp." I was sure though, it's just really hard to beat a bike that excells at triple digit speed's. I reached about 100 and backed off the gas. The most I've ever seen on this bike is 125-128 mph once. For me it's not that fun going that fast on a freeway. I prefer 35 to 45 in the twisties. |

I was able to keep up with my buddy's F4i from about 60-140, was right next to him the whole time. At that point we both backed off the throttle. Sam |

At March Badness, New12r was on his SV650 and wanted to see how it would stand up to my XB9S. Not a regular drag race, but a start at about 35 or 40. No contest. Before I knew it I was by him, and he was disappearing in the rear view. |

If straight line speed and acceleration are important to you, it would be a good idea to get a bike that excels those things, then you can be happy. You could also do your shopping purely by the published specifications... just get the fastest bike. Then in two years, trade it in on the next big thing. Then do it again... and again. Then get a Buell. I'm not being facetious because that's exactly how I did it! |

from a slow rolling start, i can smoke my friends new sv1000s. Those have about 10 more HP, but 10 lbs less torque. We ride together weekly, so it will be interesting to see how each of us performs... |

I have not found a faster Vespa...but I haven't been to Italy. LOL I am confident around anything in town. High speed straights however no longer interest me. Not an excuse of convenience. I just have what I think is the best bike for what I like to do. |

If I were interested in straight line speed and acceleration, I'd have a Triumph Rocket III right now. As far as I'm concerned, any monkey lacking a sense of self-preservation can go fast in a straight line. I like maintaining speeds in the corners. I'll take a light, nimble bike over a muscular freight train any day. |

But I have to say, having the fastest bike is pretty damn fun, especially when it handles well too. Just a different kind of fun than our thunderbikes. I wish I could have both. I guess if I have to own one or the other I'll be riding my lump again this weekend as my first choice. |

I have really tried to str8in out my suspension on a xb9sx and I must say I am really disappointed. People say how well these bikes handle and all I have to say is climb aboard my Tuono and it will show you a well sorted bike. It beats it at everything. Except looks, Buell has looks down pat. |

Well Kpg, if your street racing hopes weren't dashed before, I guess they should be by now. It depends on the street. I don't condone streetracing, but that doesn't mean I haven't done it. There are roads where having a Buell doesn't put you at a disadvantage... at all. Nothing puts a smile on your face easier than waxing a kid in the mountains who went out and bought the latest hyperbike. My old Buell is the slowest bike I've had since 1980, but it's the bike I've ridden the fastest in the real twisty stuff. I saw Rasmonis almost put his front tire up an R1 riders exhaust at Deals Gap because he was slowing us down and not letting us by. It was the most beautiful thing I saw out there before Nevrenuf passed a GSXR rider who had a passenger on the back... but Nevrenuf had a passenger too! Buells are really slow... heh, heh. |

... having the fastest bike is pretty damn fun, especially when it handles well too. I absolutely agree. I just got to a point where the arms race was over for me. Plus, there is nothing worse than an out of date King-of-the-Hill sportbike. I can't see any bike I've owned in the past (a plethora of GSXRs and CBR's) putting a smile on my face now, but just thought of riding my 7 year old Buell is making my pants vibrate. |

Nah, I completely understand the buells strengths and weaknesses. I was just sort of wondering, maybe a little daydreaming. |

And, I guess to re-light my hopes I can just throw a turbo on my 12s and then maybe I could keep up. |
