I am looking at getting a 04 xb9s lightning and the bike I am looking at is out of state. I really cannot take off of work to drive 18 hrs to pick it up. What is the best way to get the bike to me can I just have a HD dealer ship the bike? If so what kind of cost would I be looking at? Also I am kinda worried because I have not actually seen the bike in person just a few pics. Is there any thing I should or can do to make sure I don't get screwed on the deal I would hate to have it arrive here and find out the engine is blown or something like that. The bike is exactly what I was looking for in the price range I was looking at so I hope things work out for the best. I also have a question about the off road capabilities of the bikes I have read about other Buellers saying they take their bikes off road and was wondering how well the bikes actually hold up on off road conditions. I live on a huge farm in Ohio and wouldn't mind taking a off road excursion every now and then but I also don't want to mess up my bike. Thanks again Ryan |

I personally would never buy a bike without being able to check it over and test drive it. I think the best thing for you to do would be to keep looking for a bike that is for sale close to your location. As for going off road, maybe hardpacked dirt roads but thats about it. |

There has GOT to be one closer to you. Heck I know of an 03 XB9S near me, Columbus, Indiana. Check the "For Sale" section of the board here, I'm sure you can find something closer. |

Thanks for the plug Xbullet. The stock XB9/12 will run off of paved road well, with some slight modifications. The mud protectors and fender beak from the ULY should be bolted on in place of the front fender. Suspension should be set at medium level on the twist o'rama. Tires, the Pirelli Scorps really are a great all traction choice. Knowing that you have severe ground clearance issues, the bike will run fire roads, dirt roads, county roads and some rougher cityx steets. I would NOT recommend single tracking with the bike. That is a job for the ULY or even better a full dual sport bike. I have the dings in my muffler to prove it. Other than that my bike is STOCK (ok I did put a race kit on it, and Blast bars but still NO SUSPENSION MODS) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG76ftSFOcg |

Yer Welcome! anybody with that much dirt on a lightning is ok with me! Tires, the Pirelli Scorps really are a great all traction choice. Amen... put on some Pirelli Dragon Supercorsas and i'm missin' the fun i used to have in the pastures on the horse farm. luckily they only last about 3000 and then i'm gettin' more Scorps. |

Thanks for all the replies, after watching the video CityX linked I am sure the xb9s well more than meet my needs off the pavement. I have been looking for bikes closer to me however the bike also has to meet the budget requirements and most of the bikes I have seen for sale in my area in the last 6-7 weeks have been a little more pricey than my budget can afford. 5k is about my limit anymore then that and I maybe living in the dog house till the wife calms down |
