I have a dilemma.

I like the looks of the Firebolts but I am 5-4 with a 28 inch inseam. They are just too tall for me.

I fit on the XB12Scg like a glove however the looks are not as appealing to me as the Firebolt.

I have a few options.

1.)Change the tail and front windshield on the XB12Scg to a Firebolt.

2.)Lower the XB12R with the Scg shocks and get a custom seat.

3.)Forget the whole idea and just buy a XB12Scg and keep it stock.

I heard the tail sections from Firebolts and Windshield fit on XB12Scg’s

What do you guys think? Which way would be the cheapest to guy for options 1 and 2.

I am currently looking at 2 different XB12R and 1 XB12Scg for sale right so I need to let them know which way I am going to go soon.

Thanks
Robert

I would think it would be easier to fit the SCG suspension to the R. Much less fabrication.

I think it's just new forks and rear shock, but I don't know for sure. I think there are folks here who have done this conversion.

How much do you think it will lower it by.

The first Number is the Firebolt and the second number is the XB12Scg

Standard Seat (4) 30.5 in. 28.6 in.
Ground Clearance (2) 4.35 in. 3.55 in.

If I reading this right its only lowering it .80 of a inch. The XB12Scg is about 2.7 inches lower that the Firebolt and I know most of that is from the seat however I can almost flat foot the XB12Scg and the Firebolt I am on my tippy toes.

Something is not adding up.

Get an SCG and watch the classifieds for 'Bolt front end parts. IMHO the Lightning with the 'Bolt front end is HAWT! Or 'Bolt with Lightning tail. LOL

Many pro suspension shops can lower the XB properly, (keeping the geometry correct). That would result in an "R" with the same ride height as the "Scg". I am told that Trackside Engineering in Wisconsin has lowered several Firebolts per customer request.

There are others... and also some suspension shops in Northern California.

Look down the list here, I see two shops in your area:

Adding the bolt front end to a lightning is very simple. Putting a bolt tail on a lighting is a little harder, but still not bad. I would think buying an Scg and fitting it with R parts would be simpler. I have the R front and S tail like Wolf. If you want the lower seat height, you will probably have to keep the S tail.

I think Cereal I right on this one, Buy the Scg and put the Firebolt front end on it. I see the parts on ebay a lot. But I would do a price check at the local dealer before buying on Ebay.

There someone that keeps listing a Uly rear fender for 25 bucks + or - plus shipping. RETAIL at your local dealer on that part is 19 bucks for example.

If you put the Scg suspension on a Firebolt you also need to replace the lower triple clamp. The Scg forks are a smaller diameter than the rest of the XB models.
