I need to replace my tires and was planning on bringing in only the wheels problem is I don't have the wheel removal tool. Is there somewhere I can buy it. . I don't have a buell dealership within many many miles closest one i think is about 2 hours away.. Also is removing them hard? I was planning on the strapping to rafters as my lift. | ||

One of the sponsor dealers should be able to get it to you. No clue how much it costs. | ||

or take a spark plug socket and put the extension on backwards and put it in the axle. that works also. | ||

A 7/8 allen wrench will do nicely. You can pick one up at your favorite tool store. I was planning on the strapping to rafters as my lift. While I don't use that method for lifting, I do that for making sure the bike won't fall while it's wheel-less. | ||

Something like this?  The bike is sitting on jack stands and the straps are just keeping it from falling over. I didn't have the tool either, nor could I find a 7/8 allen. It supposedly comes in the Buell toolkit, but I got my XB used and it is missing. They won't sell the tool separately, but the kit only cost about $20. | ||

What am i missing?? There's one in MY Buell supplied tool kit inside the tail.How much would a 7/8 allen key cost???.....uhh.....oh..ok,MSC sells them for $20 each.Not much else to use it for. | ||

Before you 'hang' your bike up, brake the bolts loose so that you don't have to jerk it around in the air. If you don't have one, get a service manual, it is as important as the tools for servicing the bike! You'll see the procedures as well as the torque specs, or maybe realize it is something you might not want to tackle.  | ||

And keep in mind that the front axle is reverse threaded. | ||

I just bought a 9/16" or 5/8" bolt-whichever one uses a 7/8" wrench and jammed two nuts together so they won't come off. It cost maybe $2 at the hardware store. | ||

Or... Material Supply houses sell hex bar stock - hardened steel is about $20 per foot in 7/8. Buy one, cut 5 - share with your friends. | ||

I all of a sudden don't feel so bright.. Its just a allen bolt maybe I should have looked before posting. I love the reverse spark plug idea as well as the 2 nuts bolted together.. Thanks everyone for ur help.. Yeah the service manual for me is a must. Can assemble a car no problem. But bikes are brand new to me. Greg | ||

I drove around for two days trying to find a 7/8" hex bolt/allen wrench or anything to make one - finally just ordered the tool kit for $20 - even if they ship it to you it beats spending $20 in gas and still not having anything. | ||

If you just have to have the tool, I noticed American Sport Bike sells them too. Al's been updating his site and it's a lot easier to navigate now. Just check under tools and you'll see it. |
