"Ask them how their engines are running at 20k miles? 30k? I doubt they will have any sort of compression left in them..."
Sneth,I bet they would be fine.

even two up, he can smoke me no matter what I'm riding. He's just a better rider. Plain and simple.

It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't also look like Wilford Brimley.

"The Buell is an excellent motorcycle. It's no match for most the IL4's in a straight line. It's very much in the hunt once the road gets twisty."

Just curious? How many here have ever ridden over 100 miles of nothing but "twisties"???

Not me, but I've done about 225 miles of about 75% twisties. I love Colorado, and Oregon. Mountain roads used to be a curse. Now....

A blessing.

Waiting to take on Deals Gap and Northern Georgia.

Liquorbox,

I'll let you know in July. I'm going to Montana & Idaho. Going to take the Beartooth run through the Rockies. I've done it in a car, and now I will do it on a bike.

I have done over 200 miles in one day, but here in Southern Michigan twisties are hard to come by.

I have an XB9S. I'm not compensating for anything.

Yeah, those guys on the XB12s are trying to compensate for small genitals with extra cubic inches

Eyes on the road! Trust me, that will be the hard part. That area is so amazingly beautiful, you will want to stop and look. I hope you took all the pictures you need from the trip with the car!

I know exactly what you mean. I will be riding between three Harley dressers, therefore, we will be going slow. Have to avoid the Grizzly bears too!

Bear Country

As far as pictures go they just could not do it any justice. I still will take some photos, and post them after the trip.

CRG11983,
Drop over to the Detroit Hooligans section in storm fronts. We are planning a couple good rides this summer, always nice to have another bueller on board.

Hey snackbar, I can't remember his name, but does the one guy still have the maroon ZX12 with the extended swing arm and NOS with all the polished parts? That would be the guy we need to take to pine mountain with us.

Just curious? How many here have ever ridden over 100 miles of nothing but "twisties"???

Well, last September I took a 1,000-mile trip through the Ozarks. With the exception of 100 miles or so at the beginning and end of the trip (crossing the Mississippi delta), virtually the entire ride was twisties.

Sure there are bikes that are faster, but are you really going to use all that extra power on the street? I don't know about you, but I don't go WOT every time the road straightens out, and I won't ride with folks that do. Any idiot can go fast in a straight line; just twist the grip and hold on. The Uly, for me, offered the best compromise between power, handling, practicality and comfort.

Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway end to end. No straights and no level ground. After a few hours felt like I was slowing down. WTF! Pulled over, looked at the trees. They all seemed to be leaning slightly. I was going UPHILL when I thought I was going DOWNHILL. This was after many hours on the road. Pretty mindblowing!

Yep, I've ridden many hundreds of miles with no straights over half a mile long.

I hate straight roads. They are boring as hell. Guess that's why some folks need a Gixxer or something. So they can hit 180mph on a straight flat road and try to evade the police. That would get your adrenaline pumping for sure.

Me? I'll take a tight twisty out in East Tennessee with no traffic, no cops, and no high horsepower required.

Try showing up in the NASCAR Garage at Charlotte/Atlanta/Bristol/Darlington on a Buell and see what the comments happen to be.

150 Harley based choppers, dressers, softails and etc. A couple of young guys will have Jap bikes, a couple of the more experienced riders will be on BMWs, but there will only be one Buell. Been that way since 99. Different in Everyway is right

Ride Em

Devils run, 6 miles , 66 corners, all dirt and twist. That will leave the crotch rockets back at the pavement scratching their squid heads. Where the f@$%$ is he going?!? : D If you cant lead em on the straights, take them to the dirt and leave them behind (but then I might be a lil crazy for the way I ride my CityX)

I've seen 'em hold up RVs and dozens of cars in the Rockies, to full of themselves to pull over and let the campers pass. riders wearing costumes.

Dude,

If you feel like you need ammo, buy a faster bike.

If you can get your mind to the point where you don't care what they think, keep the Buell and laugh it off.

Easy Spatten, sometimes I am one of them "•••••• riders wearing costumes". Although, I don't hold up RV's and dozens of cars. If there's traffic behind me and I don't want to go fast, I pull over.

Good advice on the "get your mind to the point where you don't care what they think". That's what makes a Buell a Buell, isn't it? I do so enjoy "laughing it off".

I've been laughing it off all day: ). Spent the last 5 hrs on backroads of N.Ga with a couple of guys on litre bikes, and try as they might, they just couldn't shake "that p.o.s.". Been invited to join them this weekend for a second round, we'll see.

Johntman,

The guy with the stretched 12 is not a RUFF RYDER, but I know who you are talking about and he has joined in on a few rides. Anything stretched will not keep up with the buell in the corners. I'd love to prove my theory though.

No! The ZX14 is like a tractor trailer.
Like I said, I like my Buell, but I also have a few other bikes and I KNOW very well that buells are not the superbike that most here pontificate about!
Most of whom have never ridden anything but a buell, obviously!

Between this thread and the Buell vs. Gixxer thread, I haven't seen ANY positive comments regarding Buell by you.

The dearth of favorable attributes observed by you would tend to lead all but the least observant to the conclusion that you do not like Buells.

Read back through this thread and observe the multiple "mini-loaves" pinched by you in this thread alone and explain how my recommendation to trade "up" to a straight line wh0re is in error.

I have no illusions what-so-ever about my Buell after 31 years of motorcycling. But if I did... so what? So what if I go to a Buell specific site and said as much... so what?

I'll walk the walk, too... say whatever you want in response. You don't deserve a reply.
