After test riding the Firebolt, Lightning cg and TT, I brought home a TT today. After reading everyones disappointed opinions but reading some good mag reviews, I figured I'd have to try it out. Today we took a TT and a cg on a 15 mile loop that had REAL roads, from smooth to pot-holey to the occasional fine gravel covered pavement. I'll start by saying it's all about the seat and suspension. Then rode it home 90 minutes and was ready for another 90 ! It is thick enough to block all the engine vibe and the distance between buttocks and pegs is at least an inch greater with the TT. The tires handled the gravely stuff without a slip, compared to the cg's. Now I'm not saying it's for everyone, it's not, but for a guy who doesn't drag his knees, rides dirt bikes often (very similar position other than the pegs being higher), and finds himself taking any road he comes across, paved or dirt...this bike is a HOOT. And as far as parts swapability, it looks like you can swap a bunch of things from other models(I am looking for that lower fender off a Uly to keep my engine cleaner...cause I don't plan to wash this one with anything but a hose !) And as far as those ugly back plastics, they remove very easily..though they do keep you clean in the wet stuff. From now on, my anodized VRSCA stays clean, I got me a new daily driver! So before bashing it, I say RIDE IT.

Congrats on the TT! It's getting good reviews and it sounds like a good match for ya'.

You're fortunate to be tall enough to be able to take advantage of it. Unfortunately, my 5'6" frame (on a GOOD day) pretty much eliminates the Uly or TT from my short list. (Uh, no pun intended.)

Congratulations! I ride a Uly and had a City-X before that. It seems to me that the TT is like a City-X on steroids with a realistic change to a no passenger variant.

The TT would be my choice if I were 25 years younger and was still doing hot rod street and dirt bike stuff. I've been on them and can certainly appreciate what they are for.

The Ulysses is my luxury ride, bus, truck, Jeep, Corvette, do-it-all of a motorcycle. For me that TT takes out the bus and truck parts that I use so often.

I just had a test ride and agree that it was a great ride. I had a CityX when they first came out and have always regretted selling it. I thought about the Uly and probably would get it but it's just a bit more $ than I want to spend. The dealer is going to give me a solid price on the TT and decent money for my trade in, so I think I'll be pleased. I don't ride with a passenger, I like the way Ventura bags look on the bike over their hard saddlebags, I like a little extra suspension, but don't need alot(Uly), and the number plates are growing on me a little bit more, and besides I can always take'em off: )

Not me.

I went to East Troy and rode one the week they came out. Amongst the cries of "oh no. . . how can I ride a motorcycle with numbers plates". . . I was cryin yyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa.

You're gonna love it and the bike is amazing.

saw one today up close and personal...its pretty cool...wasnt the big doofass machine i was expecting....its weird...like a cross between a supermoto and....and superduke....its like if KTM went out and got wasted and went back to the shop and made something they really wanted to ride instead of what their bosses told em to make.....

Thanks for the little write up. I am currently deciding between the TT and the City X. I totaled my 05 Tiger recently after a tractor-trailor decided to make a sudden left turn. I was miraculously spared any injury.
So I'm in the market for a new bike and have decided to go with a Buell. I'll be test riding these models soon.
Anymore input about your TT will be appreciated.

Prior to a week ago, I had test ridden the XB9x, XB12s and XB12ss and had decided I was going to go with the XB12s. I really liked the styling and seat of the CityX but the torque of the bigger motor was a deal breaker for me, and the long’s relaxed steering geometry just didn't feel as good to me. Then I rode the TT. As several people have mentioned, the bike does look better in person, but what impressed me was the ride! It was exactly what I was looking for: I loved the tall (and amazingly comfortable) seat and wide bars, the torque of the 1203cc engine, and the way the little bit of extra suspension just ate up the rough spots in the pavement. It has the longer, 54 inch wheelbase, but more aggressive steering geometry than the lightning long.

So I bought one! It will be my first Buell and I am quite excited. Unfortunately I cannot pick it up until the beginning of June, so I would love to hear from others who are riding the (TT) lightning.
