Anybody mounted a Ventura rack on a 12s yet. I'm wondering what they use for mounting points?

I have the Ventura on my 12Scg. It's a great accessory. Two "L" brackets are attached via the rear passenger peg bracket and underneath the cheese grater.

Then you slip in the rack of your choice or the grab bar & tighten two screws.

Thanks Metalstorm, pics greatly appreciated. I ordered my rack yesterday. I was concerned as I had made hard luggage mounts already & was concerned if these would interfere. The photos @ Ventura were not that clear. Thanks again.

I think the actual site Ventura uses is cycleventure.com

Al of American Sportbike sells Ventura products as well.

The Ss uses different (longer I believe) "L" brackets than the 12S/9SX/12Scg

So this rack won't work on a XBtt since it doesn't have rear pegs?

The bolts and holes are still there, just need to work around the number plates to get to the fastener points., or just remove them... I should bolt the happy heck up, but you want to use the one for the SS model

I don't think you have to have the passenger brackets on to mount the Ventura L brackets. They use the rear most hole that the passenger bracket uses. They provide a longer bolt that passes through the L bracket into the passenger bracket hole and into sub frame. I'm thinking it would work without passenger brackets with a different length bolt. Maybe the stock passenger bracket bolt would work. Maybe a spacer would be needed. I dunno. I know it could be done though. It wouldn't be terribly difficult.

The problem I see with the TT is the number plates. It's hard to tell with out seeing the bike in person but from the photos I've seen it looks like they would interfere. So with out actually seeing the bike I would guess the number plates would have to come off.

Ok after looking at my bike (I guess I should have done that first doh) I now believe that you don't need the passenger bracket or any kind of spacer.
It looks like the bolts provided with the Ventura kit will work wonderfully with or with out passenger peg brackets. : )

looks like that bar would also give extra support for a pair of bigger saddlebags. any ideas on that.

Go to the "Frikkin' Imported Mirrors!" thread here on the Xboard.
Skully has a pic of his 9S with a Ventura rack (grab bar), NO passenger peg brackets and really nice Chase Harper saddle bags.

thanks, you can never have enough storage. the first time you put saddle bags on your bike it's very hard to live without them. especially if you have an electraglide. and those mirrors look pretty good on his bike also. gonna show them to the wife since it's her bike.
