the forecast was for 14 degrees celsius which was our first real hint of spring here in Vancouver BC. I anxiously put on my riding gear and took the elevator down to the underground parkade where my XB sleeps. The thoughts of wheelies were in my head for a fun commute to work. I pulled out my key and got ready to .....WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some ground out my ignition hoping to take her. Obviously the ignition was mucho smarter than the criminal. Now comes the hassle of getting it fixed. I am so pissed off. I think its open season on criminals now. Think I might just go hunting. I hope some of you got to enjoy the nice weather on your bikes today. Peace brothers and sisters Freezer |

So it's gonna take about 8 to 10 days to get the new ignition in. Gotta get the bike towed. I guess it could have been worse...like been taken and then beat the piss out of and then been found. We don't get paid out for 30 days if it is taken. So I have to check my policy to see if I get a replacement until my bike is fixed. Obviously we need more jails here 'cause we have losers cruising around with over 50, yeah fifty offenses on their rap sheets. Of course the bleeding heart liberals get outraged when the coppers rough up those little 'bastages', yet they don't seem to notice when our hearts get ripped out by some dreg of society. |

at least they didn't get the bike. nothing worse than getting your vehicle stolen, but when it's stolen and you lose all your tools that you use to work with then that's when it really sucks. hope you don't have that much problem getting it fixed like one guy on here did. |

Yeah, I am relatively lucky. The insurance company isn't being difficult...yet and Trev Deeley in Vancouver does good business. There are actually Buell lovers there. They even have a Drummer on one of the Uly shop bikes. Yes it could be worse. Thanx for the nice words. |

Freezer, You need one of these, the ultimate in vehicle protection: http://tesladownunder.com/tesla_coil_sparks.htm#Te sladownunder%20Car%20Theft%20Protection Scroll down for the car photo. (From a previous thread on the Quickboard) |

Thanks Hugh!! I always think of things like that. I have been on the receiving end of some high voltage and now bear the name Tazer on my name tag at the bar I work at. I think the gift of electricity might just cure some of those crooks. PS: I have a Tesla coil at school but it's just too small to do the trick. I might just have to re-engineer it. |

Hey Ft-bstrd and Treadmark, watch what you say about us Canadians. You don't want us to start talking about you stupid Americans. Lets call it a truce, before it gets nasty. |

Dood, It was a joke! I'm assuming that because he lives in Canada that he is ALSO Canadian. The irony of the statement was to call both the OWNER and would be thief distrustful. I would say that more thefts occur in the US than Canada making us more distrustful. Wouldn't you? Someone woke up on the sensitive side of the bed today. |

Ft_bstrd: I think I have just found my new wallpaper for my computer at school!! So....they didn't pick up my bike yesterday. I waited around for pickup and no show. So after a couple of calls I get to talk to the tow truck company. He gives me the "we were busy" line so what ever. He then says they will come with a flat deck to pick it up in an hour. Two and a half hours later I call and say WTF? He responds "Oh, I forgot to give you a call". I then started thinking about tow truck drivers up here in Canada. Many of them have questionable pasts with regards to auto crimes. So it is like the slime world is having its way with my backside. Now the insurance company supposedly wants to see the bike to evaluate all of the damage before it goes to the shop. At this rate I might be back on my bike by September. I grew up in a small town and nobody dicked with your stuff. In the big cities you can count on being messed with. Time for some small town style restitution. |

most dealers have their own trucks...im suprised the dealer wont pick it up....i personaly wouldnt want some tow truck guy messin with my bike....i worked at a body shop ..we owned two tow companies....i wouldnt let any of those guys tow my cat let alone my bike....for me it was easier to just pay to have it fixed my deducable was 500 the ig was way cheaper than that. |

Be careful with tow truck drivers. A lot of them are using straps that go on the end of your handlebars, kind of like a "chinese finger trap", what happens is, they tighten them down so tight, it bends your bars. If you see them pull those things out, tell them to stop! You want the old style straps that have the hooks on the ends of them, or better yet, soft ties. |

It appears that many of you were much worse off than myself but the powers that be seem to be tinkering with me a bit. So I had to get two classes covered today so that I could have my bike picked up from between 10:00 and 11:00AM. I call to make sure that it was dispatched at about 10:45. They said it would be cleared to leave at 11:15 - thanks for the call. So I wait and at 11:50 I call Cork Smoker Towing and say I'm going back to work, you might as well cancel the truck. They put me on hold............WTF, then say it will be there in 8 minutes. TFB, I have work, and a discussion forum to get back to! So more BS. I wish I didn't care as much as I do but this is really pissing me off. Peace yet I don't feel too peaceful |

Do you have a friend with a trailer or truck That's just B.S. for starters, screw that company, go elsewhere. Also, How expensive is the ignition module? If that's the only damage, I say, have the insurance adjuster come to you, then you install it. It is literally one bolt and you disconnect the wiring. Piece of cake. I just had to do that to change to my helibars |
