Hello Everyone, In October my bike died on the road. It was not charging. The check engine light came on so I pulled over, checked the bike over and it wouldn't crank over. About a half hour later, I got a jump start and it ran for about a mile then it started running like crap and finally died and wouldn't crank over. The other day I bought a new battery and the bike is running fine. It is charging. 13+ volts at idle and over 14 volts at 3500-4000. Do you all think I may have had a loose connection/short or could it still be a stator/regulator problem? I only ran the bike for about twenty minutes or so. I ordered a volt meter from American Sport Bike so I'll be keeping an eye on it. Thanks, Gregg |

sounds like you had a battery problem. Check your manual and do a stator and VR check. If everything is OK then rest assured it was the battery. Looks like you have a 06, did you take the battery back? They have a 1yr warranty against failure. They test the battery there at the shop so you get a free voltage and load test... |

Thanks for the reply Spiderman. I think I'm gonna just install the volt meter and keep an eye on it. No worries today though. It's -22 degrees here. Thanks |

I had the same exact problem, right before X-mas: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/247971.html?1170959048 I charged the battery, then hooked it up to a tender. I just took it out last week for and extended ride, 100 miles or so, and had no problems. I'm past the one year warranty for the battery unfortunately. |

Was it on a tender? Cold weather is hell on batteries, as you know. |

Thanks Rasmonis. That sounds exactly like what happened too me. I didn't see your post when I searched. Although I store my bike in a heated garage, I should probably get a battery tender too. The bike does sit for extended periods of time. Funny, I remember storing my KZ1000 under a tarp, outside every winter without a problem in 4 years. On another note, I just bought a Ventura pack system from American Sport Bike. It seems to be pretty durable but I'm not sure that I will like the looks of the mounting bar when the pack is not being used. It will be a small price to pay for the amount of storage it will add to the Firebolt. Gregg |
