Those black triangles that everyone has on their XB's to protect the fuel tank/frame. Not counting the carbon fiber ones, does anyone know if they're made by the aftermarket or only by buell? What do they normally cost from a buell dealer? I've seen them on ebay for as low as $39, as high as $60, and everywhere in between. What's a good price for them? They "stick" on? There's no fasteners? Only "long" chassis's differ correct? My '07 would use the same type that all '03 & up use, correct? |

they are about $40. and well worth every penny. my buddies bike got wiped out by a friend 2 hours after he put them on. It saved alot of stuff on the bike. they should give them away on every new purchase. |

Tape and a bonding agent that you "paint" on before you use the tape to stick it on. Think of it like Part A and Part B. Once it's on.... It's on. Good luck taking it off. Mark |

I thought the "paint" was just a cleaning agent to remove any wax/oil etc. from the frame. It looked like the same stuff you use to install a rear view mirror on a car windshield to me, Either way, just get the pucks, cheap insurance. Better to have and not need, than need and not have. |

I cleaned my frame with mineral spirits first. It dripped on the air scoop and oil cooler cover. Now they both look like crap, permanently. I don't recommend it. |

So, everyone here has used the genuine Buell ones? There are no aftermarket manufacturers? |

Mine didn't come with any liquid. I cleaned the surface of the frame with alcohol before sticking them on. |

Ditto what Old_man said. I held the pucks against the frame where I wanted them (adhesive backing still ON) and outlined them with a pencil. I cleaned the frame with rubbing alcohol, waited five minutes for it to evaporate then pulled the paper off the pucks and stuck them on. They're just as solid now 1.5 years later as they were when I first put them on. |

The only aftermarket frame protection I can think of is LSL frame sliders Sam |

Hals can weld a set of standard frame sliders on your XB. But I'm sure you don't want to go through the cost of that. The XB frame pucks are molded not far from the Buell factory, at a nice plastic injection molding shop in New Berlin, WI. I've done several molds for them, but not the Buell pucks. Buell owns the tooling for the pucks, and they aren't offered to any other customer besides Buell. |

Okay, I'm gonna try to help clear the air on this one, regarding liquid and no liquid and what not. As i understood it, back in August or so of 06, there had been talk or notice of the earlier pucks having inferior adhesive. So, DaveS used to make sure that when you bought your pucks that you got the newer ones. Mine came with a 3M stick that broke in the middle and sort of mixed up and after outlining where you wanted your pucks you filled in that area with your gobbily goop. Then you waited 5 minutes and applied your pucks to that area after taking the backing off. This was to have created a more superior sticking surface. Hope this helps. Plus, it may have been Al that said this but all I know is that both DaveS and Al were ensuring that you got these when it came out. Mark |

Mine came from H-D with the liquid, and it actually made the paint look a bit different after applying it... maybe not quite as shiny? It was a bit darker. Those frame pucks have saved my butt (er, frame)twice, once from a stupid drop and once in a rear collision. I'd never think of going without them! ~SM |

Best thing you can add to your Buell bike period. As someone said above, they should come already installed on the bike. In the future this may happen. If you dent the frame you are in high risk of totaling the bike. |

I thought they came standard on 06' and above models??? If not, I have given out some inaccurate info.... woops. But yes, best thing to have on your buell. |
