So , I actually don`t mind the look of the cheesegrator ,and I`m an all weather rider to and from work everyday so the extra water protection is appreciated. But ,I didn`t care to much for the license plate holder or the square light housing on the end. So I cut off the last 2 inches ,added metal and fibreglass , filed sanded and painted it ! I then got a buddy to weld the custom plate holder on. I wasn`t too sure of it at first, and thought if it didn`t work I`d just chop it off fully. But when I put it on it looked pretty good!IMHO

I'm not a cheese grater fan at all and always hated the way my bike looked with it on, but I really like the work you did. BIG points for originality! Way cool.

Very excellent, indeed.

Just wondering how you light the license plate?

I am impressed with your skill.

No one who's never seen an XBS before would ever know that that is modified.

Any chance of seeing a side view pic?

I haven`t installed the light yet, but it`s either going to be a set of "lite n boltz" or a small row of led`s mounted up above the plate Thanks for your replies!

I think this mod is the way they should have come from the factory! The original stock tail piece with license plate holder looks like and after thought; your awesome fabrication job protects you from rain and looks good doing it... nice work.

How did you build up the bottom portion? Fiberglass, bondo? I like it.

I actually duct taped styrofoam in the shape I wanted ,to the cut off tail section, then added a piece of metal rod, metal mesh then poured in the fibre glass resin ,that will eat away at the styrofoam, but leaves enough to add bondo to and start shaping. I`m not a body man so it took me probably longer than it should have, but for over the winter it was a good project that seems to be worth the effort!
