Wow,all of the "I'm smarter than you" has degraded this thread. It always happens, too bad. Does the ability to move air through the engine have anything to do with this? Engines' that move more air make more power? I was(as a youngster fooling/w hotrods) always taught that torque wins dragraces, not Horsepower. In the sportbike arena,I believe horsepower wins races, not torque. Oh yeah,i was a rebel who got a "C" in high school physics,i just didn't care..i wanted them to pay me to attend school.ironically....now they do |

I knew I shoulda gone for the CORDLESS! New Buell spotted in E. Troy!!!! Earlier this week a new Buell motorcycle was spotted on the streets of E. Troy. Onlookers were astounded to see the top secret project powered by what was described as "...the biggest dang weed whacker ya' ever seen...". The alleged new powerplant is rumored to make 150hp at 36,000 rpm, shifted through a 9 spd trans. Oh, Reep be sure to get the service manual before you go tinkering on that calender, don't wanna get incorrect RPM (Rides per Month) |

Yellow MAY be fastest, but BLACK is quickest! |

Technically, bike color only affects top speed, "fastest". Quickest, or acceleration, is determined by the graphics on your helmet. I think you have a misconceptoin that black is quickest, it is just second fastest, next to yellow. |

Yeah, but if you don't enter the light value, you will only be able to measure levels of blackness. |

You mean hg/lv*pi? or is it lv/pi*hg? Now I'm confused. I didn't think light value and helmet graphics were related in terms of bike color...? What if I put graphics on my bike and wear a yellow helmet? |

The helmet only makes it FEEL faster. The bike color is the only thing that determines actual speed. The real question is whether black is the preponderance of pigment or the absence of light. |

Spatten1, Based on your sound advice on yellow being fastest, I just painted all my internal engine components yellow. Piston speed is in fact up dramatically, but then the paint ain't quite dry yet> Trans. got all the graphics(quick shifts are important). |

Awesome! I'm glad I could help you out. Isn't it cool the way you can feel the performance of bike color, especially yellow? |

I like your tranny hop up to quicken shifts, brilliant. You might need to put a helmet with graphics on the tranny, if you want to maximize performance. Let me do the math and get back to you. |

At the risk of derailing this thread by talking Kawi Triples, a post aimed at 45_degrees: Hey dood, NICE H2! Sumbitch looks amazingly original. Mine's an eBay mutt with a 72 motor in a 75 frame. (best of both worlds, sez me). You a member of KTW (http://kawasakitriplesworldwide.com/phpBB2/index.p hp)??? I post there as "3Pete", hamfisted mechanic and Resident Buell Apologist.... Join us! Other than a general loathing of all things HD, they're a good bunch.... |

Pushrodpete... my H2 is all original, even the factory original tires and chain!! I mean the ones that it has had since new! ~3500 original miles. My father bought it new. I haven't been to triplesworld. I'll have to check it out! Talking one H owner to another... these things are brutal, aren't they? I mean, when you grab a handful of throttle the tach needle moves so fast you can't even see it! Let alone trying to keep the front wheel down. Even while sitting still and revving it up that tach needle is almost invisible! Got to be careful to keep it out of the redline! This is the easiest motorcycle to wheelie that I have ever ridden. Torquey. |

I was(as a youngster fooling/w hotrods) always taught that torque wins dragraces, not Horsepower. In the sportbike arena,I believe horsepower wins races, not torque. Hmm...but Horsepower is just a function of torque and RPM (Torque X RPM / 5252), so what's the difference? |
