I’ve had the Garmin almost a week now and absolutely love the thing! At first, I was a little concerned about the viewing screen being so small (Relative to my cars), but I failed to realize just how close your face is to the instrument cluster & fairing while riding. It is more than adequate for quick & easy viewing while riding. I really can’t say enough good things about this little unit. Probably one of the greatest things is how utterly complete it is delivered. It comes preloaded with maps for all of North America for us Yanks. The software can be upgraded via the PC, online, and it comes with RAM mounts and power cables for both bike AND car! It also has an internal lithium Ion battery and can be used as a “hand held” for up to 4 hours on the internal battery. It has an AC charger for the internal battery, just in case you’re not charging it via car, or bike and a USB cable for interfacing to your PC. It has a built in XM radio that you can buy a subscription for & also use it as a radio. It also has preprogrammed MP3 music that you can play, or delete and save your own music. It has both male & female voices in several different languages and just about every restaurant, bar, museum, or other form of entertainment you can imagine, programmed in already. Example: I went to the Salvadore Dali Museum it St. Pete yesterday for the first time. It’s about 3 hours from me, but I just hit “Museums”, picked the Dali Museum & pressed “Go”. It took me right there without a hitch. I then asked my “date” where she would like to eat & she said, “Let’s see if we can find a “Ruby Tuesdays”? I hit “Restaurants”, punched “Ruby Tuesday” and again, we were there in ten minutes! It has full color 3-D and 2-D views, you can change the icon from bike, to car, to truck, Etc., zoom in & out infinitely and adjust volume & brightness with one hand, with either the four buttons on the left of the unit, or the touch screen. I haven’t tried it yet, but you can “save your trip” to an internal 2 Gig SD card and then interface it to Google Earth and “fly” your trip over again from your PC! The fact that the thing is water, Sun & shock proof and designed specifically for motorcycles is a major plus also. All things considered, I think it was a more than worthwhile investment, considering it’s a retail of $1100. and you can get them on Amazon & Ebay, new, for $700.00   | ||

Molly, Got most of the carbon on Ebay, but I would STRONGLY recommend getting carbon from Al at American Sportbike! I saved some money, but it is obviously poor quality work! The weave is not even, or consistent, Etc. Waz, I ran the supplied wire harness (With fuse!) under the airbox cover, directly to the battery. Easy, 10 minute install! | ||

thanx liq...ive been watching some of the carbon on ebay but was a little skeptical of buying from the slovanian republic hahahaha even some of the stuff from the U.S. looks kinda wonky....ive been looking to save some $$$$ on the frame protectors but im just gonna have to eat it and pay the 400.00 i guess....thanx man. sorry bout the thread jack  . | ||
