Been looking at replacing the stock headers, like the looks of the Arco 45mm headers. Any recommendations? Not looking for a whole system since I want to use a Drummer. Thanks, Chad |

Dont think you can use a drummer with that header, I do believe the collector is to big. But I'm wrong a lot? |

Cmm213, the ad says: "Featuring improved equal length design and seperate improved collector pipe this will fit with any of the aftermarket or stock silencers." I assume I will have to drop the engine for any header switch... correct? |

Yes you will have to lower the engine to change headers, but it really isn't as daunting a job as it sounds, and once you have done it once you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. The Aero 45 headers will fit all aftermarket mufflers and will also fit the stock muffler, although I don't know why anyone would want to do that |

Matt...thanks for chiming in. Is there a significant performance gain over the stock header with the Aero? Specifically on low RPM's? Where is the big performance difference felt between the 45mm and the 48mm headers? Also, would the right carbon ram air scoop fit with the Aero headers? Doesn't seem like it would (darn).
Thanks for any answers you might have...I'm looking to swap mine out too. - Delk |

The Aero 45 headers will give a noticeable power increase on the XB9 & XB12 models, particularly in the mid range, and should be used with a decent exhaust muffler and air filter combination. It is not neceassary to fit a TFi or similar unless you are doing more tuning work as well, although it can help. The 48mm headers should only be used on motors that are tuned for race use and have big bore kits fitted. On a stock bike you could actually lose power with the 48mm headers fitted. Our race bike uses 45mm headers along with the Corse muffler and puts out 103rwbhp/106ft lbs torque. This runs stock bores with Wiseco 12:1 pistons and stock XB12X cams. If you want to use the right side scoop you would have to cut and adapt it to fit with these headers I'm afraid I did one to fit the Micron headers a while back and it just involved cutting the bottom of the scoop out and remodelling it to clear the pipes using heat proof alloy sheet. |

Hay Trojan, What would just the header pipe cost, in the 45mm size?? Also are they slip fit to the heads, or do they use the stock type flanges? Thanks, Brian |

Hi Brian, Cost for the 45mm headers would be approximately US$790 at current rates and including 5% discount. Shipping would be around US$58. These use the stock flanges and attach to the heads in the standard fashion. The two separate headers are a slip fit into the collector and secured by springs. |

If the Aero 45 headers are good on a 9 with the right filter ECM and muffler, why aren't the 12 headers of any benefit or improvement to the 9 with improved ECM etc. as advised by Trojan and others. I know the Aero headers are better but why would the 12 std headers be worse? |
