Just purchased my 2nd Buell - a brand spanking new '07 12R (black). The dealer will be delivering to my doorstep Monday morning. Happy happy joy joy. I previously owned an '04 12R and swore I would never own another Buell until the dealer network got its act together. But a number of Harley, Hondas and BMWs later, I find myself going back to the bike that originally "brought me to the dance". And at almost 47 years old, I'm betting I'm one of the older farts riding one. :-) It's good to be home. |

Congrats from 180 miles south of you (SHSU). We should get some Texas riders together and do a trip to Big Bend or somewheres when it warms up a little. |

Well I found out from my step mother that I am 2 years older than my birth certificate says. Born on the farm in rural Montana my birth mother did not turn in the paper work for 2 years kinda strange but thats how it went down.Major deal to change it never really mattered to me. |

Where did you buy it? If you don't mind can I ask what type of deal did you walk away with? Pics on Monday Bought it at American Eagle HD in Corinth, TX. I feel like I got a good deal because we were able to work some numbers with my trade that nobody else would touch. (I also got a $500 in-store gift card.) |

Hey Whozyodaddy, I have to be in Fort Worth a week or two each month. We usually do a run into town for dinner, lies and made-up stories about how great we think we all are. And at 47, you're only just starting. I put off getting my racing license until I was 49. First podium at 50. And I own 3 Buells (2 1/2 actually - one now being built from lots of pieces - another story) so I need another Bueller to watch my back among these other racers/riders of the other types... actually we're a good crowd. Give a shout! (I'm still here til Wednesday) |

Congrats, Whosyodaddy, on your new baby. Just coincidentally, Tommy_2 also picked up his "new" bike today---an '06 12R with just 800 miles. (I also have an '05 12S, making me Tommy_2Buells, I guess.) And for all you other "alte cockers" on Badweb... I'm 60 too. And to think I lived for 57 years and did not know what a Buell was. I do feel fortunate now, however... |

Thanks all for the warm (re)welcome. I'm also encouraged to see more uh, "vintage" riders on Buells. On a side note (and not that anyone cares), I'm switching my BadWeb username from "WhosYoDaddy" to "TowJam". I've been very active for a number of years on various BMW, Harley and Honda boards as "TowJam" and I wanted to keep that username. I've ok'd it with the BadWeb admins but I wanted to make sure there was no confusion. Now, I just have to wait for the dealer to bring my new baby over today. Of course, the weather sucks (thunderstorms) but at least I can sit in the garage and make VROOM VROOM noises. |

you don't have to sit there making funny noises, start her up and let her rip! I have all kinds of squiggly marks about my floor due to snow, tstorms, kids, etc... |

Quick update... Swapping out the Firebolt for 12Ss this afternoon. After about 20 miles on the 12R yesterday, I remembered why I didn't keep my first one. My hat's off to those of you who can be comfortable on a Firebolt in stop and go traffic. Ouch ouch ouch ouch. |

TowJam, I'd really like to hear what made you come back to Buell. You left the 'bolt, tried various other bikes (you mention Harley, Honda and BMW) and I'd really like to hear what it is that makes the Buell the bike for you compared to those others. |

I'd really like to hear what made you come back to Buell. You left the 'bolt, tried various other bikes (you mention Harley, Honda and BMW) and I'd really like to hear what it is that makes the Buell the bike for you compared to those others. Three things that draw me to Buell: 1. Performance and handling. 2. Low maintenance. 3. Ownership experience - feeling like I have a close connection to the company (at least relative to Honda or BMW). As Buell enters new markets and gains credibility, I feel like I'm a part of that. The single biggest negative for me is the weak dealer network. As far as comparing Buells to Harleys, Hondas or BMW, I ain't going there. All are good bikes and have their good qualities. In fact, I still foresee another Harley or Honda in my future (or possibly even an '08 Victory). |
