Searched, but came up short.

I don't care about disc lock alarms.
I'm looking for people who have installed something like a Gorilla Alarm or a Scorpio Alarm on their Buells.

Which harness should be selected?
Mounting locations?

I keep my bike secure at the house, this would just be for when parked at work or at the store. Something to keep those who think they have the right to touch, sit on, or even get within 5 ft, a little reluctant to do so.

TIA
~ Kyle

I remember reading good things about the Gorilla alarm considering it's price. There was a more expensive brand (maybe it was scorpio) that had a remote to tell you if the alarm was going off.

Mounting under the airbox seemed to be the favored location.

Yeah, scorpio has the remote, as well as perimeter sensors.

Under the airbox wouldn't be an option for me, either under the flyscreen area, or under the seat (somehow).

I saw a picture of someone on here who had a gorilla alarm under their subframe kinda.

I have installed the scorpio w/ FM transmitter on my XB12SS. You need the universal harness. Very easy to install. No wire cutting, has wire clamps that splice the wire. I attached the box to the undertray with the supplied velcro. Ran the antenna along the hoses that run over the airbox. I have the shock sensor on mine, and you cannot get within 2 feet of my bike from the side ore rear without it chirping at you. You can however touch the gauge cluster and handlebars, but if you move them, the alarm goes off. Indy Superbike had the best deal.

do you feel it being under the seat prevents the alarm from being "startling"?

This works fairly well, isn't too expensive and is a pager type. I put one of these on my XB9SX, so far so good.

The pager seems to work about 100' from the bike, maybe a little more. I there is (just enough) room enough on top of the battery to install the brain box.

Brine, did you see my post in the KV? It is maybe not as installed as you want, but it works very well.

Would it be possible to retrofit the new keyfob alarm system (I realise its not really an alarm system, but its security none the less) available on Harley's to work with buell bikes?

Here is the link to the one that I have. Mine has the remote shown with the perimeter sensor. You can add the kill function later or buy it for a little more $$$.

It is plenty loud under the seat. It also pages the remote (alarm or vibrate) to let you know if someone is messing with your bike. This works well if you are in a resturant or grocery store, but is limited to distance of about 100 yards and line of sight.

I has told by the dealer when I bought my City X the Gorilla's had problems with wires breaking due to viberation, but don't know anyone who has one.

Ditto on the Scorpio i500. Love the thing. Works like a charm.

I'll ditto the ditto. The Scorpio is great. I installed mine under my airbox, with all the sensors under the seat. Works quite well. The two way remote is why I got it, I have had something similar in my cage and have loved it.

Jamie - how has it been working?

I like the perimeter sensor idea.

Wasn't someone on here building their own alarm from RadioShack parts?

Kyle, I have no complains so far. It is just basic protection.

I updated my original review to include my battery life. 25 days on 3 NiMH AAA's. Much longer than what I originally figured.
