It's fine if you repack it often. I've had two of them split apart on my because I was to lazy to repack them in time. It is the best bang for the buck if you take care of it, but one of the more expensive pipes that doesn't take all the work is probably better. I just can't justify the cash for one of the better pipes yet.

Looks like you need to spend more time shoveling that driveway! I like it.

Now you just need to get rid of the gold or amber Buell decals. Get ahold of Brian (Lonexb) he has a source for black ones.

How did you colour the fork legs?
Looks like you have an Aussie built car there!
Mitsubishi Magna? or is it called the Diamante?

The forks are powdercoated. I needed to have a fork service done, so I had them powdercoated while they were apart.

Yeah, it's an 02 Diamante LS. I bought it new as a hold over model, and I've had it for going on 4 years. I haven't done nearly as many mods on the car as the bike, but I've done a couple. The car has a set of 18s on it with cross drilled and slotted rotors and painted calipers. I've also got a body kit for it sitting at my friends house, but I haven't had the time or money to get it put on yet.

Duff and I were talking about that today Tim. I'll probably get a set like the ones you had on your bike before it became a chopper.

Did the powder coat add much thickness to the forks?
were they easy to slide back in the triples?
Cheers
Jodie

It did add some thickness, so the forks didn't just slide back in. The biggest problem getting the forks back in was getting the retainer clips to stay in the grooves as we got them back in to the upper triple tree. We basically pryed the triple tree clamps apart with a screw driver and worked the forks in slowly.

Jodie,
not too bad, we just sprayed a little wd-40 on the forks where they clamped. only thing that was tricky was getting the o-ring at the top of each fork back up into the top triple. also, we did have to pry open the clamps with a screwdriver a little bit but no big deal...

i'm gonna have to get mine done whenever i need to change my fork oil in about 10-12,000 miles. i'm workin on painting my triples and fairing/speedo bracket right now so i'm excited to get that done. eventually, mine's gonna turn out looking like Damnut's or Lonexb's bikes...

i thought about just replacing my blown seals in my '03 xb9s (stuntbike) and swapping those forks with my '06 xb12r and just getting them powdercoated in the process.

i've heard this won't work because the fork diameter of the '03 is different than the '06? what about just swapping the triple clamps as well? i'll have to investigate a little in the knowledge vault...

Yeah, I am. It looks really good. I could have probably taken the stuff in to a custom shop to get the coating done, but I went to a local commercial shop instead because of the price. I only paid $175 for the wheels and forks to be coated. Of course, there was a lot of other costs associated with getting the forks taken apart, put back together, bearings pressed in and out, new bolts and etc...

It wasn't a cheap offseason to say the least, but I'm happy with the way everything is turning out.

James,

The bike is looking sweet! I like the way the black triple tree and clip ons turned out. Like Brad said, paint that center chin fairing black. I did it on mine and it made a big difference. It was pretty easy to do with a rattle can too. Here is mine.

It looks like you painted your fairing bracket black too. Did you spray that or powder coat it?

Duff,

9,700 miles on her. With all this snow, I haven't ridden her in over a month!

With the bad weather, I just hang out in the garage with my tools and my cleaning supplies.

That two door cabinet behind the bike is plum full of 'em.
