Could someone with an 03 swingarm go check theres and see if this unaligned part and the gap above the fender is normal please? |

I think that has come up before, and is actually normal. I believe my 05 9sx is that way. Did you figure out if the oil spray is from the transmission overflow vent? |

Doesn't look right to me either. It looks as though the top bolt on the swing arm brace may have fallen out or sheared so that the swing arm brace is not properly connected at the top. This is not good. If in fact this is the case, it might be a good idea to take the tension off the belt by loosening the rear axle about 12 turns, and then replacing the bolt. The swing arm needs the brace when the belt is under tension. |

The pics make it look small but the mis alignment is AT LEAST an 1/8 of an inch probably closer to a quarter inch difference. Could someone snap a couple pics of theres just to get this horrbile swingarm bending n then shearing off mid corner image out of my brain. No I haven't figured out the mystery oil yet I'm kind of thinking its NOT the vent because the stator was replaced like 2 months ago n I just noticed the oil a week or so ago. I cleaned everything up under there and next time I ride I'll take a better look. |

Put dye in your primary fluid or engine oil, NOT BOTH! Oil dye is flourecent and will glow under black light. I had the same problem, I thought. Check your voltage regulator plug ( the one that goes into the primary case. It has been known that fluid can pass this gasket if it is old, dry, etc.). I take it you have a great deal of build up by the starter? If so that's probably your problem. Smokescreen |

As for the swingarm brace, it does look like you've broken a bolt or something. You'll have to remove the right-hand footpeg bracket to get to the bolts on the end near the shock. Here's a couple of shots of what mine looks like. It should be flush on all sides more or less.

They are not completely flush on my 04 or 05. I don't think you have anything to worry about. There are 3 bolts in the top end of the swing arm brace. I doubt all 3 of them broke. Check it out, though. |

Strange, I just had my swingarm brace off two days ago. It has two bolts on each end. Three are identical, and one is longer than the others. Either way, as long as the bike rides normally I wouldn't worry too much about it, but I would run it by a dealership and show a qualified tech to get their opinion on what's going on anyway. Ever jumped the bike? Could your swingarm be torqued somehow? |

Is this cat talking about a problem with his swingarm or oil spray? Some people are answering about one thing and others are off to the races in another direction! |

My 03 isn't that far off, but it is not aligned either. |

I think we're addressing two issues simultaneously. As for my swingarm brace, I guess I just got lucky. It looks pretty square to me. I'd be bringing it back to the dealership to make it right if it weren't. There's no good reason why parts don't fit correctly on your bikes. But like I said, as long as you're not worried about using it as a showbike and it rides good, who cares? Ride it like you stole it. |

On my 03 9R, the "misalignment" you're referring to is there but minimal--maybe 1 or 2 mm. I wouldn't worry, though, as long as the bottom of that joint is flush (it sits on a ledge in the main part of the swingarm). These are cast parts, and castings are never absolutely precise. Nothing to worry about as long as all the holes and register surfaces line up and the thing bolts together easily. |

Hey! Except for the gay Carbon fiber hugger, that looks like mine did last month! The swingarm alignment is the same and the oil splooj from my busted shock is there too! |

My City-X would do the oil spotting thing once in a while. I found out that if the dipstick isn't tight enough it would spit out tiny bubbles of oil under pressure when hot. My wifes Blast does it too. I ended up tightening and removing it with pliers to keep it from leaking. |
