theres a custom XB12S in the new (February 07) issue of super streetbike magazine. its got a 300 rear tire and chain drive, with a one off swingarm.

all the buell purists will hate it.

i think its bad ass though.

ive got a subscription to the mag and got it today, so it'll prob be on the stands in a week or so.

later.

I know of the bike Bob. It was to be in the mag months ago. Mine was in Super Street Bike October issue. There is a few things on the bike that don't add up but its just for show and is 4 sale to boot.

I guess one of the things that doesn't add up is the stock idler pulley with a chain drive. It is sick looking. 1/2 chopper 1/2 XB looks awesome in my book. Is the stock front belt pulley still there with the chain out side of it?

James you picked two of the things that don't add up right away. The tensioner would be gouged and ruined in like no time at all and that sprocket appears to be welded to the stock front pulley sprocket and in know way would I trust it but who knows??

I thought about doing a Fat Tire rear but after thought I began to like it just the way it is and not mess with it.

At last a Buell that the Harley dealers would love to sell. - They'd put it right in the front of the store.
All it needs is just a few more chrome nuts, and some more sharp pointy parts.

Price has not been disclosed to what I understand.

The oil is still in the swingarm. It in the pivot area of the swingarm just like the factory one.

Anybody willing to customize a Buell to that extreme should be excepted and welcomed within our brotherhood!!!

That thing has a lot of thought and creativety put into it! Well executed!

im surprised that this thread has gone this long without someone speaking up about how 'wrong' and 'un-buell like' that bike is.

Whats wrong with Customizing Old man ??

Bob I'm surprised as well. Theres nothing wrong with it all. When someone customizes theres always critic's and that is something you just have to deal with. Someones not going to like it..... some will. They'll get over it.

There is nothing wrong with "customizing".
As it is said "to each his own".

But I, personally, will "except" this.
But anyone else is free to think as he will.
If you think this is a better motorcycle than what it started out as, you are entitled to your taste and your opinion.

I hope you agree that I am entitled to mine and the right to express it on this site.

Hate the paint choice.

The 300 looks out of proportion.

The idler proves that it is a show piece and not a rider.

I do like the tail design. Nice integration of the stock subframe into a one piece.

All that work and the motor is left un-detailed?....

But kudos on the work it took to build.

Guess that makes me a purist. The rear tire is completely out of proportion to the rest of the bike; the swingarm is butt-ugly (nowhere near as clean as the stocker); and the bike seems to have a bit of a cluttered look to it.

I have nothing against customizers, in fact I have a lot of admiration for them--but that doesn't mean I always have to like their creations!

m i c k e y m o u s e mickey mouse

did you see it still has the front pulley on it, looks like they attached a sprocket to the pulley

and the chain running on the stock idler, good idea (why didnt i think of that)just kidding its not a good idea

and the way the headlight is mounted to the frame i dont think you will get full turning radius without hitting the headlight (thats how it looks in the pics)

i like customizing but i dont like putting stuff like that in publications for others to see and try (unsafe mickey mouse fabrication)

other than that, i like the individuality

Wow, I didn't notice the headlight mounting at first.... and it's pointed straight down.

The front sprocket is welded to that square outer piece on the stock pulley.

Not much travel in the back now either.

A for skill, D- on engineering.

Customizing a motorcycle;
Back in the day, a neighbor of mine rode up on his new BSA Lightning

It was a thing of beauty, It rode and handled like a dream.

The next time I saw it he had added fork extenders, ape hanger bars, and had covered it in purple paint.

In my opinion he had ruined a wonderfully engineered motorcycle.

It no longer rode or handled well, was uncomfortable and to me was a travesty.
But he was very happy with it and I guess that's all that mattered.

Well said Old Man...

Some people like to RIDE motorcycles.
Some people like to LOOK AT motorcycles.

My guess is that this bike is strictly for the second group. To each their own...

The way I look at it the builder isn't on this sight to answer questions to the reason for his execution's for some of the things he has done. None the less he's enjoying the bike how he wants. Why do the people of this board bag on what people do there bikes when the same people get there panty's in a bunch when someone bags on the brand they ride. If you have nothing good to say... say nothing. If ya like it thats a great thing. Sheesh!!!

I like... the Orange Oil Filter... it goes well with... oops... nothing.

What's the purpose of the airbox if you have open stacks?
