Danny - If you decide to make the swap, I've got 90% of the parts that you'll need. I just put an R tail on my S. I've got the following: S Seat Frame Rails Undertail Trunk lock cable Pasta Strainer License plate mount If you're interested, PM me & we'll talk price. Joe |

Is it easier to put the tail on an S or S front on an R? |

Probably easier to put the R tail on an S. The electronics (fuse box and ECM) are located behind the front faring on the R models, and it would be a serious pain to relocate those to under the seat. When placing the R tail on the S, you just need to figure out some trick mounting points for all the electronics which are already under the seat. |

Out of sheer curiosity, why do you want an S seat? Seems like most people want it the other way around...? I personally LOVE my stock Ss seat (which I know is not the standard S seat). That thick slab-o-gel (or maybe it's foam rubber?) is SO comfortable... most comfortable bike seat I've ever found, cruisers included. ~SM |

Swordsman, try the touring seat on your Ss. Your tushy will thank you. |

i will post up more after i get home from work. if you want. yes, post more, your bike rocks brian! i've been thinking of the same swap once i'm bored with the bug-eyed S. for now i'm good, but man do i dig the S rear with an R front. not a fan of the opposite setup (R rear, S front). looks odd to me. |

It's easier to put the S tail on the R because the electronics are in the front. If you put an R tail on the S, you then have to figure out where to put everything. I swapped because the S seat is more comfortable and the R tail just seems to long. |

I've been looking for an R tail to put on my S as well. If anybody wants to swap let me know. I want to make a Lightningbolt to match my Firebolt. |

What about putting an R front on an S vs putting an S front on a R. Wait, Wait , Wait, anyone whos done any of the 4 swaps guesstimate your total time and expense. Then we'll rank'em 1 to 4 and know the cheapest route for the desired effect. |

I would guess that, because of the location of the electronics, it would be easiest to start with whatever bike has the front end you desire. It would make the S tail on an R easy as the bulk of the electronics is in the fairing and with the R tail on an S you don't need to reroute it from the fairing. Just my $.02} |
