Although this is probably not exciting to most here, but I am absolutely thrilled... This morning I go outside and take the cover off the bike and what do it find... Its iced over!!! The last time this happened in the Los Angeles (Santa Monica to be more accurate) area was atleast 4 years ago.

I'm glad you like it. I just had to uncover my car from 1/2" of that shit two days in a row. |

Dude, it was 25 below zero here last week. Our short riding season makes Alaskans really appreciate our bikes. Normally we ride from april to oct(average). |

You know what, I was in Southern California at Camp Pendleton, the last time ANYTHING iced over and it was a friggin nightmare. Originally from Oregon, I was shocked at just how retarded everyone was in Southern California about ice on the ground or on their vehicles. My kids went to school 2 hours late because of some surface ice. Unreal. Yeah, you can keep that crap. To me there is nothing more vile or a bigger pain in the ASS than ice. You think that's ice??? I'm with xl1200r. I've had 1/2" to an inch at times on my rides (cars, bikes) at times and all I can do is curse the gods for doing that to me. IT SUCKS!!!!! I'd take 2 feet of snow with 7 foot drifts over the ice. ANY DAY!! Mark |

Nothing makes you feel more alert and aware like driving 30 miles to work in an ice storm, when there was already 1/2" or more of snow on the ground, then when the ice storm hits all that lovely snow that the nice snow trucks plowed and melted into slush becomes ONE BIG SHEET OF 1/2" THICK ICE.. FUN FUN FUN... but then you have the guys flying past you in the four wheel drives cause they have more traction... LETS SEE YOU STOP!! |

Yeah... I used to live in Fremont, NE. Every winter there would be this inordinant amount of 4x4's on the side of the road. They have more traction, but, yeah... We all stop the same. 4 wheel or not. |

We're used to the snow and ice here. Have to be. Most folks in Wisconsin put their bikes away in October, but thanks to El Nino, we were given decent riding conditions through december. Typical fall day of fishing.......

I'm in Upstate NY, and I generally ride from mid-April to mid-November. Not too bad, but we can still major snowstorms in April, so you have to be careful. The past 2 winters have been rather mild (until a few days ago...) - wish I had a bike to take advantage of it. Mine's sitting at the dealer's waiting for my tax return. |

I was just kinda jokin with ya, BIACS--the pic I posted was taken in October 1996 or so...I was visiting Cambridge Bay, NWT (nowadays Nunavut)--way north of the Circle. The guy in the pic is Inuit, and he's laying on the ice to keep warm while he fishes. Here are another coupla pics:
