Note Dave's post in the Quickboard about the XB9R being discontinued next year. I'll bet the XB1340R is already in the pipeline to replace it... |

1340??? Won't happen. For one thing insurance is murdering many people just with 12 alone. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems that the 9 is alot easier to place in a home then the bigger cc XB12. I really think that cc's will not increase but performance will. |

I would love a 12 but I want it to be achieved with more bore and the same stroke as the 9. I like the quick revving nature of the 9 but would love some more horsepower. I don't think it has a enough demand for them to make it so I will probably build it myself. 1340 shouldn't make much difference on insurance as most Harleys are much larger than this. |

as long as engine durability is improved I'm at 11,000 miles and already starting to worry if the oil pump gear is going to go |

Harley 's are also 800 pound slugs that are classified as cruisers or touring bikes. Buell's are classed as Sport bikes. Which one do you think your insurance company think's you may cause them more problems with?? On another note I have 12 and can insure a R1,gsxr 1000,or even a ZX10 cheaper then my 12. |

Well then it may be time to check out other insurance companies. I had Progressive insure my Ducati Monster for $400 per year with full coverage. They wanted $6,000 per year for a GSXR750. No, I am not kidding. My Buell costs me $500 per year for an '06 XB9. Every insurance company is different. I do understand Harleys are cruisers and insurance companies understand there is more to a bike's speed than just the displacement. |

Dark Holy Cow's man I don't think it me that needs to go looking for a new insurance company. I pay $305.00 a year for my 12 and a new GSXR 1000 would cost me like $280.00 last time I checked that out. Hell a dresser would be about the same. I remember when I was paying 172 for my old cyclone. |

Id like to see buell make a more powerful bike but i'm not going to sign a petition asking for even more displacement with no other details. 1200cc is plenty of displacement to make much more power than is necessary on the street. I think that darkducati is on the correct track. I don't think a bigger engine is the answer, more revs would equal more power and I believe that that is the direction the next buell engine needs to go. Whatever that takes as long as it still sounds like a harley at idle would be fine with me. |

BadS1, that is cheap as crap! Quit bitching! I do have an '06 and your 12 is an '04 so there is a bit of difference there. And I am 28, don't know how old you are. But seriously, those prices are cheap. Also consider that insurance rates are mainly based on the percentage of claims on that type of vehicle. Ferraris are actually quite cheap to insure as the owners take far better care of them than typical drivers. I don't think that they would care much about the insurance anyway if they wanted to build a larger engine. |

Petition? Like BMC doesn't already know what we want. I think the product plan is pretty well laid out for the next 5 years and a petition is going to affect major product decisions. They know, I promise you they know. --Sean |

All anybody complains about is making power. I'd imagine they get that complaint all the time. |

This is funny - a petition to demand Buell build a larger displacement engine. What is the extra 150 or so cc's going to get us? If I'm correct the XBRR makes about 150 hp but requires a 12.5:1 compression and racing fuel to do it. In no way is that motor going to see the street. We will be lucky to see another 20 hp. So, instead of ending up a mile back behind my buddy on his R1 I'll only be a half mile behind him. Why not just drop a V-8 in a Buell and call it a day. |

Dark, Heres what happening in my neck of the woods though. Young guys are coming in and looking at the 12's and finding that while they can afford the payments on a 12 the insurance they can't. Its higher then the 9 by a considerable amount. I have a buddy that has a ferrari and I don't think he thinks it cheap....ouch!!! Who's bitch'n about insurance??? Not me but I know there is a lot of young guys that bought the 9 because they could afford it. |

Engineering, not size. More size adds weight and makes the package harder to put in a chassis with a long enough swingarm. Stack the tranny, change the main bearings, upgrade the valve train. |

Stack the tranny, change the main bearings, upgrade the valve train. +1 Another gear and a higher redline would suit me fine. I am not out to battle the rockets, but I would like a lil bore bump in my thump. |

I agree with spatten, the two motors are plenty big enough. I would like to see some motor changes! But I dont think it need to be anything over 1203. I would love to see my same 984 with a overhead cam and a redline of somewhere about 9500 to 10,000. |

I agree with engineering over displacement. (not that i would complain about it) lighter stronger flywheel, rods & pistons, and the valvetrain to let em spin higher and get there quicker. those are things that BMC can do without redesigning the engine or trying to smog certify it's racing engine. MY guess is that we see a couple different versions of the 12 come out. a race tune version and a uly version. two levels of tune, one for the track/street and another for the highway/offroad. like most motor companies, you can buy a normal engine package and a GT/SS/R/SI version. It's the cheep way to go, and given the recent past with the TT. Buell has been making the least expensive changes it can to provide a new option. But maybe we will see a 1340 displacement version, but the aftermarket offers 88CI+ (1443cc)kits, why stop at 1340? |
