This is my new bike that I purchased 12/23 and I picked it up a few days ago. Its a 2007 Buell lighting Long. The dealer was really great to me, I called them up and asked them about Buell's, very knowledgeable and worked with other dealers to get the bike I wanted without any additional charge. In fact it was all done over the phone! I'm also a new rider and this bike is no problem to handle. Everything is very predictable from throttle to handling. This bike begs to be pressed hard into the corners. I found my boots scrapping the ground quite often as I rounded corners, all with perfect confidence, Buell, without a doubt, owns the corners. The dealer is Thunder Tower Harley in Columbia SC, I highly recommend them and they'll be my next dealer when I purchase a bike for my wife. I had no problem controlling this bike as a newbie, I would recommend it as a beginners bike, doesn't scare you, and very easy to handle. I got the long because of increased fuel capacity and more passenger room, I also order the Touring seat (hasn't came in yet , Harley took a Christmas vacation) because it lowers the rider an inch(I'm a shorty, need to have a firm foot on the ground) and increased comfort, although I had no problem with comfort so far, the hour ride home and all day I spent riding it around town. I had to ride back to the dealer because the temporary tag flew off on the highway (they are only good up to about 90 mph!) I welcome myself to Bad Weather Bikers and a fellow Buell owner! Thanks! |

Drfudd, Congrats on the new bike. Glad to hear Thunder Tower is turning out OK. A few of us met there for their "grand opening" celebration back in August. I've been by a couple of times since and was a little worried that they hadn't gotten in any 07 bikes and still don't have any Buell merchandise. We have a thread in the "Storm Fronts" forum for SC Buell riders; see it here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 130123.html?1167009755 I'm hoping we can all meet up for a ride or two this year. BTW, especially if you're really a newbie, I highly recommend that you sign up for the beginning MSF course at your local SC tech school, or do the "Rider's Edge" training at Thundertower. It'll make you a better rider and allow you to enjoy that Buell even more. |

Hughlysses, I took the MSF course at Aiken Tech. It really helped learn how to ride a motorcycle the "right" way. The dealer still doesn't have any Buell Merchandise but they are able to order Buell accessories, They also said that they have someone who specializes in Buell suspension adjustment and free adjustment to owners! I plan on going up there next weekend to pick up my new seat and practice my maneuvers on their riders edge training course out back, I gotta practice my slow speed figure-8's. |
