In conjunction with my other thread titled "Soooooooooooooooooo..." I figuered I would post my impulsive thoughts upon picking my bike up. I wanted to trade my Buell in for something that is more reliable. After being left stranded on the freeway for the third time, I thought this stuff should not be happening to a bike still under warranty. Just how many miles is a V-Twin suited for because I know 21k is no where close to the end of my engines life. I was looking at the new Kawasaki v1000 on line. So I took the bike across the street and inquired about OTD pricing with a trade in. I was offered 4,400 for mine, leaving me a balance of 4k ands some change. I couldnt justify the offer because I know my Buell is worth more sentimentally, and $$ wise. It has taken me on some good rides, and brought me to some great people like the ones here. Nowm I cant beleive I even thought about abondoning it. What a great bike even thought it does kind of do "special" things once and a while. Yes! I just wait for the day when I am in the middle of the nowhere when my drive belt decides to break. Indeed I ve got a love hate relationship, hmmmm come to think of it me and my wife have one too. Does this mean she needs to go in for warranty service too? |

Naw, hopefully you can service her yourself. Glad you're re-liking your bike. Ever consider a chain? If nothing else it may help your peace of mind. |

The Buell is a damn fine bike, read my thread in the XBoard labeled Junk. I hope you keep it and keep abusing it. I have broke one belt, launching at 5000 rpm on a dyno drag machine. My pal brought his bike by today, Honda by the way, the tech that worked on it last night put it back together wrong and it almost caught on fire cuz oil was leaking right on the exhaust!!! Dude could not even install the valve cover gasket properly. This is one of many examples of why I dont let ANYONE touch my bike anymore. Even under warranty. |
