So, a new battery has solved my problem and I'm back on the road. It's so nice to be able to ride my bike again! However, I do now have some spitting and sputtering when I get on the throttle a bit. This didn't exist before I repaired the front cylinder head. However, I also upgraded from stock to a Special Ops muffler. Could the sputtering I'm getting now be related to the new exhaust? Do I need to have something reset or ECM remapped or something? Or, could it be that I haven't gotten the interactive exhaust cable adjusted properly? The motor runs good up to about 6000 rpm or so.

Thanks guys!

Are you hitting the rev limiter??

Are you running the stock ECM and have you made any intake modifications?

No, it's not hitting the rev limiter. Stock ECM and no intake mods.

mine did the same thing about 3 weeks ago. It ended up being a loose spark plug wire. It would idle and run fine but when I revved it up a little it would sputter, etc. Check the easy stuff first.

Mine did that too and it turned out to be a broken plug wire (original stock wire). I changed the plugs and wires to the updated ones and the problem went away.

I would start there...the front wire has a tendency to move a bit on my bike.

I'll check that out. I did notice that one of my plug wires seemed like it was not "grabbing" the plug as good as it should. I bet that's it! Thanks guys.

x3 on the plugs and wires. mine (16,000 miles) would act like it was hitting the rev limit at about 4500 and would only do it when it was hot. turned out to be a pick up. it may also help to atleast take out the snorkle in your airbox or one of the other many airbox mods.
