My front wheel axle it's a little bended in a crash with a car(a lot of pieces damage).How can i straighten up without damage it? | ||

I wouldn't ride a bike with "straightened " parts around the front wheel. Call me Narcissistic, but I value myself too high to do that - especially on a bike that's as fun to ride fast as a Buell. I suspect you're not insured? *that's one thing to learn from this...* Sorry for not being very creative, but these are my $.02. | ||

Do not attempt to straighten the axle. It will be weakened due to metal fatigue. The axles are amazingly thin and light. They are built to a safety standard that relies on the assumption that the metal of the axle has not been compromised. The risk of failure under strain (like cornering forces, or emergency braking) is too great to risk. I'm sure there are people here on BadWeB that can fix you up with a new, or used one for a very reasonable price. Much cheaper, and less painful, than the aftermath of a front axle failure. | ||

Don't listen to those guys, take a broom stick and a giant hammer and pound the entire length of the broomstick through the axle. Make sure the axle is removed from the bike and hold it in your mouth at one end. Then call Daves and order a new axle. | ||

Awwwwwwww don't buy an axle. If your life is worth $25.00 the $32.80 just isn't worth it. Do the broom stick/hammer thing.  And video tape it!!! | ||

I understand wanting to save a few bucks, but parts for Buells are about a cheap as you can get anywhere. If you can't afford to replace or repair your bike with correct parts in the event of damage, you must have insurance. If you can't afford to repair the bike or pay for insurance, you can't afford a bike. Accidents are going to happen. There are simply too many variables for there not to be some sort of accident or damage. Just my $.02. |
