3K to spend on customizing your 2007 Cherry Bomb Firebolt. What would you do? Paint, carbon fiber, exhaust, tid bits? What would your list of mods look like? |

I would focus on performance. Exhaust, ECM/mods, maybe some head work, then farkles if there is anything left over. |

I'd leave it alone and go on a $3000 ride! I know.....I know.....but if you had bought a Uly....... |

I would focus strictly on performance and safety. This is my rule for myself on purchases for my bike. I broke the rule just once to buy a billet sprocket cover, and it's the one part I am having trouble with (doesn't fit correctly). Figures... |

CF Frame protectors, Front and rear axle sliders, Frame pucks, Drummer, and ECM reset should take you there. Use the rest on track days! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Track days and leathers will make you faster than any performance mod. Just ask anyone I pass on my just a muffler and air filter installed 12R. |

Everyone except me New12r! Maybe my 9 just seems faster with an ECM! If I had $3000 and a new bike, safety gear would be my number 1 priority. Then education. You want go-fast stuff fine. If you lay your new one down because you didn't know any better, most people would just laugh and say "Told you so". Take it for what it's worth. Do you want to be a more efficient rider or do you want to just try and show off? I believe the answers your getting just aren't the ones you want to hear. To each his own. Just remember, gear saves skin and is a lot less expensive to replace. Most people skip on the gear because they think they don't need it or can't afford it. Just ask New12r about not wearing proper gear. |

Something that has not been mentioned is suspension tuning and mods. I would fit the competition springs, revalve the shocks, tune the suspension, and add a steering damper. Then I would pretty much go with Glitches list, but add frame pucks and fork sliders. |

Micron, h.p. Airfilter, Direct link. New tires, new tires, new tires, until the 3K goes away. |

It depends what you want with that 3k. Do you want to be faster? Then do a Track Day. Do you want to be safer? Do a Track Day. Do you want to put your knee down? Do a Track Day. Do you want to gummie up your tires and ride to the limit? Do a Track Day. There is no other performance mod that will give you a better benefit then a track day. I've heard Code's classes are some of the best. And you can rent all the gear! Perhaps you can spare a bit of your remaining change to the USO to support all of our armed service personnel? |

Where is this "Code's classes? It sounds like I might wanna give some of that stuff a try. Are there any in TN/KY area? And whats a day like this cost a person? Including renting the leathers. |

If you already have a full set of good gear, and are already a racer, or have been to a track school or are just against going to the track for some reason to improve your skills (the best bang for your buck to make your bike get from point A to point B in a shorter time FWIW) Then I would look at either a Micron or Drummer SS, whichever you prefer, race filter, and Direct Link + proper dyno tuning to match mods. The next would either get Traxxion dynamics to re-build the suspension to suit your weight and riding style. Spring rates, fluid weight and valving are very important. Then I'd look at a seat to you liking. If you are going to ride you want to be comfy. A ZG st windscreen or an extended lightning screen is a good idea for the next mod. The very last thing I'd look at are cosmetic changes, but that's me. Do not be quick to dismiss the value of good gear on your confidence while riding, or on the improvements you will see in your riding skills a track day (or 10)will net you. |

lets see... 3g's , TURBO-charge it,frame & axle sliders, polish wheels & clearcoat them red. fabricate a license plate bracket for remote "censorship", black windscreen, and if there is any $ left over a spare back tire. |

I'd probably just get a race ecm, filter & Drummer then put the rest away as an Insurance/tire/service fund. |

Isn't this wild? If the same question had been asked of any Harley, nobody would have mentioned riding at all......they probably would have recommended getting another seven grand out of the bank to complete the job!!!!! Yep! Buells rule the list of bikes to need the least farkling to complete their mission! That being to look cool, go fast, handle great, instill permagrin, etc. etc.! |

Well here's what was done with the 3K I had spoke of. Carbon fiber everything. I mean everything. Bar end mirrors. Chrome mirror blocks. (to cover where the stockers used to live) Knurled billet grips/matching pegs. Intergrated run, turn, brake LED tail lamp. Tag relocation kit. Front/rear axle sliders. Frame pucks. Powder coating the front end and some other pieces. Red glo-pod lights for accent. (Message edited by beachbuell on December 13, 2006) |
