hey, you just have to give the guys on storm fronts some time. Really, most of them aren't near us. I'm here on Cp. Lejeune. There's a couple more in Wilmington. Other than that, that's about it. Most of Storm Fronts don't make it out this way. They like to concentrate their efforts to the areas they are from mostly. Understandable. One guy is a contractor here on base so he's up here but, mostly for work. I'm not sure there are any on the air station. Couple of us here on base, but some are in Iraq, right now. If you are pretty close, look me up, or pm me. Go for a ride or something. Later Mark |

Hey, I'm on New River as well...if you can handle riding with a Chair Forcer. I was looking into starting a BRAG chapter up here before they discontinued it. We need to get all the Buell riders in Jville together for a ride sometime. Dave |

I was on Lejeune in 05 but now I am in San Diego. There are some good people there in NC. Met a lot of fun people while there and went on a group ride or two. Mike (Norris) was the only one that would get a little crazy though. |

Last time there was in oct 91 after the gulf. was discharged after a long drawn out battle with the powers that be over a blown miniscus and medial lateral ligament. How I miss the Jacksonville/ Wilmington area as well as the swoop to myrtle for the weekends. Check our post for the Hudson Valley trip to the dragon in March... Not too far from Lejeune and looks to be one hell of a ride besides it would be nice to hear how the Corps has changed in 15 or so years. |

I may be moving back to the Jacksonville area within the next 6 months to a year. I am up for a PEB right now and 99 percent chance I am getting medically discharged/retired. My family and I really liked actionville. Yes I know it's hard to believe but we liked it. Plus if you dont already know prior to moving in 05 (now in San Diego) there was new information out from city council. Jacksonville's civilian population now outnumbers the military population and there was a strong indication that within 5 years Jacksonville will be bigger (population wise) than Wilmington. If I do move back it's one more rider in the area. Edit: Edited for spelling errors. (Message edited by yohinan on December 08, 2006) |

Hello devildogs! I left J-ville in 1996 and haven't been back. From what I hear I would not recoginize it. Is the Driftwood still there? I too liked to swoop down to Myrtle Beach for the weekend. I quess some things never change. Semper Fi. |

Driftwood. Geez. Yeah, it's still there, but mostly deserted. I think the nudie bars aren't garnering as much attention as they did back in the day. I suppose you wouldn't recognize the dirty J if you came back today. Hell for that matter, Camp Lejeune has changed 10 fold in the past 12 years that I've been in. |

Hey this is kinda taking things away from the scene your talking about but I just thought of something else. If you all like BBQ and have never been to Gunny's BBQ you MUST go. I would say it is the best BBQ I have ever had and I have had a LOT. If you take 24 towards New River as your leaving the main gate, rather than veering to the right when the split comes (right after the Camp Johnson exit) take a left at the light (cant remember the name of that street for the life of me) so you head into the "downtown" area. It is maybe a quarter of a mile down on the left hand side. Give it a try, I am sure you will be back many, many times. I know that is going to be one of the first places I go if/when I move back. |

The Brown Bagger used to be the first bar you came to outside the main gate. Basic hole in the wall Topless bar. I think it was torn down |

Yeah, things have changed a lot since you left. That split you're talking about, is now replace earlier by another split in the 24/17 interchange. It basically (if you stay left) bypasses everything and dumps you off somewhere near Harley. I think I know where you're talking about though. |

What about Toby's lounge down by the Air Station? If I recall correctly the sign said they had good looking women and 3 ugly ones or something to that effect. Anyway, enough of the old times. I heard there is a hot chick out there building custom choppers out of buells. I saw an article about her in V-Twin or something like that. |

Hey Yoda, You should have been there about the same time that I was. Ever make it out to Topsail Island?? I went back in May of 2005, I can't believe how much things have changed. Recon moved off the beach to Courthouse Bay and I'm sure that has messed things up for Amtracs. Jacksonville has changed so much I almost got lost on my way to the main gate..... YAT YAS!!! |

Oh my god... Tracks!!! Rarely do I meet anyone from Tracks. For those of you who don't know and always wondered... You Aint Tracks, You Aint Shit. As another note. Yeah, Jville is a mess. I hope that in the next 3 years or so, the construction and overall overhaul that I think it's trying to go through is a success. As it stands now, it's just a pain in the ass to even get around town. |

Recon moved to Courthouse Bay? Batallion Recon was at Onslow and @nd Force was at Courthouse... Where the hell did Force go? and what was the name of that buy me drinky bar? All the boots would go there and try to get some ass, I dont remember the restaraunt it was across from but it was a boat. Thunderbird lol many nights of trouble there. There was also a place called Dukes place and the Orleans house too, both were down the road from Geiger if I remember correctly. |

WHATS THE WORD??!! THUNDERBIRD!!! I got in so many fights at that crap hole!! They started patting people down and sold beer in glass long necks!! WTF?? I caught one upside the head, got KO'd into the booth behind me. As I was getting my $hit together the bouncers kicked everyone out of the bar. I was out like a light and when I came to all my friends are UA and I'm bleeding like a stuck pig!! One of the waitresses helped me to the head to get cleaned up....all the time I'm thinking I'm going to get some strange until I see myself in the mirror.....I looked like Carrie.....needless to say no boom boom for me.......ah the good ole days!! |

I was in from 83 to 97. My last unit was 2d ANGLICO on mainside. I heard that they had disbanded but are now back together. I too had a lot of good times at the Thunderbird. I've actually got a plate in my head from a bar fight. If Marines will kick the s*&t out of each other, just imagine what they will do to the enemy! |
