Back in June I was leaving work and got hit by a truck. the driver didn’t look before make a right turn onto the street hitting me and sending me over a median and into oncoming traffic luckily there were no cars coming. the truck driver how ever didn’t stop and drove up onto my bike crushing my headers and several other things. It was just 1/4 mile from my shop so one of the witnesses got my secretary who called 911, the driver used this time to pull his truck off my bike. I couldn’t walk because my legs hurt too much but within minutes a fire truck ambulance and 3 police officers were there. I was fine except some bad bruising around the knees, which goes to show its never too hot to wear your gear no matter how short the ride. I took my bike to Quaid hd and they estimated the damage at $4700 the insurance company cuts me the check and I go about trying to stretch that as far as posible. After 2 months in Quaid and a whole lot of run around I pull my bike out and take it to Biggs in San Marcos. They have my bike for a month ( 22 days to be fair)and found another $1000 in damage. So far new rims (Biggs) tires (Tomahawk) new ceramic-coated headers and carbon fiber pieces (thanks American sport bike) red air box and wind screen (thanks Dave)body kit sharkskins. I just want to say thank you badweb for answering any and all my questions. (Message edited by socalbuell on November 30, 2006) (Message edited by socalbuell on November 30, 2006) |

Damn glad to hear you're allright! Drivers like that need to have fair justice implemented back on them! At least you survived and were able to repair you bike back to a whole new standard. Looks Good!!! I have one question though? Who manufactures the bike stands seen in the picture? Thanks for an answer and it's good to hear you're OK! |

Glad you didn't get hurt to bad! I was hit on an almost brand new '04 Ultra Classic. The insurance forked out $10k for repairs and I managed to get $1500 for "depreciation". Looking back, I should have fought to have the bike totaled. I still doesn't track straight and has all sorts of rattles that it never had before the wreck. Good luck with everything! |

Yeah, did they punish that idiot? Glad to hear you're fine. That full plastic looks pretty good and I usually hate plastic on Buells. Let us know when you get it painted and post some pics! |

Socal, It's looking very cool, if that's any consolation! Now just a few minutes in a room with the truck driver and a rubber hose and you'd really feel good, I'll bet. |

Man you are lucky to be alive. Glad you are too. Having 'dropped' my Buell a few times I always thought they crashed rather well, but your XB adds new dimensions to my theory. Someone parked a truck on yours and it looks as good as that. You're on the Buell payroll, right? Rocket |

The driver couldn’t leave because the a arm or some thing was bent. So his insurance paid for most of what Ive done. Rocketman yes my bike survived amazingly and so did I but Im not on Buell payroll. Now after dealing with the all together lack of support for Buell riders at the dealer ships I more often than not tell people that ask me about my bike that its the finest bike Ive ever ridden but I don’t recommend buying one unless your rich or a die hard fan. Lucky for me, I fall into one of those categories. Unfortunately it’s not the first one. |
