Wasn't really sure where to put this... Just got my Buell today, 05 City-X, lotsa extras as I'm sure most of you will spot them. Drummer, race ECM, etc. Bought it locally off a great guy(he'll be getting another one). I've been on here about a week, just reading mainly. Seems like a great group and we know the bikes are great. Hope to get to know you guys well in the coming years. Cheers, Cord (Portland, OR)

Thanks for the welcome. Technically I love in Banks but yeah, well have to hook up. The guy I bought the bike from had good things to say about Paradise too. I'm still doing all the reading I can. I like to self educate rather than get smacked with a "Search noob!" I've wanted a Buell since 1996. Worth the wait! |

1st thing to do is set the suspension acording to your weight. Good buy there. |

Bob was meticulous in his record keeping. I have the bikes current suspension settings written down, Bob's setting were provided by DaveS and Bob weighs 10 LBS. less than me. I've bookmarked the Fuell article and alot of other posts with recommendations on suspension. This is so exciting! LOL I'm like a kid with a new toy at Christmas! |

Congrats on the new bike Cord. I am pretty much in the same boat, reading everything I can about these bikes and available upgrades. Still waiting on my Drummer. I live in Hillsboro so I am pretty close to Banks. If you need help with anything let me know. I also have the VDSTS software if you ever need a TPS reset. |

Yes DTX, I am a big Disturbed fan. Xbswede, I work in Hillsboro, give you one guess as to where. My bike went for a TPS reset today, Bob wanted to make sure it was good to go with the Drummer. I forget exactly what he had on it before but he said it sounded "tinny" and had a bit of a flat spot in the poweband. Local guys can feel free to add my email. cord318@msn.com (Message edited by Disturbed on November 30, 2006) |

Disturbed, You might want to check back with the guy you bought the bike from and see if he's missing a loading dolly. Welcome to the asylum! Congrats on the new bike! |

Welcome to BadWeB! Be sure to check the knowledge vault out for loads of technical info! If you have questions and can't find the answers though don't be afraid to ask. This is a good group we have here, just be sure that if you are joking to lay some smileys on the post to keep people from getting offended. The ventura rack system is cool and can be very useful. I like the bike with one small exception...someone went overboard with the exhaust heat shields. I can see the top 1 or 2, but what exactly is the third one for? |

"I like the bike with one small exception...someone went overboard with the exhaust heat shields. I can see the top 1 or 2, but what exactly is the third one for?" The Jury is out on the shields with the previous owner and myself. I think the 3rd one will come off for sure. They match the heel protectors though. The stand came with the bike if that was what u meant by loading dolly I'm gonna have fun here, I can already tell!} |

Aatch, You are correct on all accounts. Jag är Svensk. Actually, I live in Hillsboro but close enough. I do need to find someone to ride with. I am fairly new to riding and really don't know anyone. Just let me know when. aronstenius@verizon.net |

Man, I miss Oregon. Just hearing you talk about all the roads and stuff. I am in the Marines and grew up in Portland, Gresham, Beaverton, and eventually Molalla. Used to live in the Hawthorne district off 16th. Used to love to cross the bridge work my way through downtown and head up the hills or make my way up to Sylvan. Some day, I'll be back. When I come back on leave and such, I'm gonna have to look a few of you up. Mark |

Welcome. I'm a relative newbie too. I sort of like the machine gun exhaust shield, but it would look even better if it was done nice. And what the heck IS that dolly doing acting as a sissy bar?! |

xbswede - jag ar ocksa svensk! my bike will be out of commission for a few weeks while i remove my original muffler, send it off to kdfab, and await my drummer. as soon as that's here, i'd love to hook up with you, ride, and speak a little swedish. i'm originally from gothenburg, moved to the states back in '86, and to portland in '96...look forward to meeting you, and hopefully some other local portland buellers as well! |

Well my wife says, "nothin if ever good enough for you" or "you just can't leave anything alone". Well honey, you are 100% correct I may ditch the forward most heat shield next. I want to mod the cheese grater but I'm following the related threads and thinking I should leave it living in the Great NorthWET. Ventura rack and passenger pegs removed. EDIT: Removed forward most heat shield, much netter! (Message edited by Disturbed on December 01, 2006) |

All ya gotta do is make the heat shields fit better. Radius the ends with a peanut grinder so they look right and you'll have a unique look. Kinda matches the heelgaurds. |

Disturbed, I didn't even notice at first, but what type of windscreen is that you have and do you like it? |

I'd like to add my Welcome too! One thing: Unscrew the pegs on the bottom of the footpegs! They drag WAY too soon and are startling when you feel them hitting the pavement. They unscrew with a wrench. Simple stuff. Lets you lean the bike a bit more. I still don't know why manufacturers put them on. (Message edited by slaughter on December 02, 2006) |

It is a Cee Baileys windscreen http://www.ceebaileys.com/buell/lightningxb9_xb12. html . Mine is black and clear obviously. Due to an ankle injury I haven't had a chance to test it yet. The previous owner loved it, said it makes life about 80 much more pleasant. I removed the front heat shield. I may remove the spikes later. |
