So many people only use this forum when they have a problem and then people who are thinking of buying a Buell come on here and see mostly problems, so I thought it would be nice to have a thread about how reliable and trouble free most buells are...and how much you like the bike compared to other bikes you have owned.

I have had my Firebolt for over a year...ride it like a rented mule and have loved every mile of it...my previous bikes were: ironhead sportser, honda shadow ace, honda cbr 600 f4, and a harley Fatboy...the Buell is the funnest bike i have ever owned and the one that gets the most attention and comments.

Great ides for a thread! I've had a City X since March 2005, no problems and I'm loving it. Just bought thermal clothing so I can ride it in the winter as well!

I had 12,000 miles on a 2003 XB9S with only one minor problem that was very quickly fixed under warranty. I traded that in for a 2006 XB12R that has no problems what so ever after 2,500 miles.

2004 XB12R, Serial number 3, just under 30k miles, no problems but loose battery cables and only with an aftermarket battery.

100% reliable, loves long distance rides, doesn't consume oil or complain when I thrash the throttle.

I've owned 9. Ridden them for 20 years. I've ridden my 1995 in 44 states, it never missed a beat.

I'm sure I'll have a problem someday. . . I just know I will.

: )

It's tempting fate but my Firebolt has done 11k without ANY problems, not so much as a blown bulb.

Wheel it out, start it up, go ride

I have had my XB-9SX for over two years now. It's been perfect, er, except for the broken valve spring, which was repaired perfectly under warranty.

Completely stock 2006 City X 7060kms of fun and problem free riding. Except for people asking me what kind of bike it is because it's the coolest bike they have ever seen, but that I can handle.

2004 XB12S, Buell Pro Race kit. I had 2 ZX Ninjas before, and also KTM Duke 2. I sold those 3 after I test drove the XB. Damn good bike with no problems except a loose battery cable but easy fix and 10,000 miles and adding. I'll never sell this one!

My 05 XB12Scg has been rock solid for 9,000 miles except for things coming loose (primary compensator nut, battery terminal bolt, plastic body piece fasteners). I just check everything frequently with a torque wrench and use locktite liberally. No problem. She just does a little shake at idle because she's happy to see me.

My gas tank seems to go empty quite often and the numbers on the odometer also seem to be going up at a somewhat proportional rate. I am sure I am not the only one that has this chronic problem. What could this mean??

05 XB12Scg with 10K miles, no problems (other than when I low-sided - but I got fixed and so did the bike).

It likes to use oil, but has been rock solid reliable.

I like this thread. I`ll also make note that I did have a warped front rotor ,but it was happily replaced under warranty .I was well taken care of at my dealer,"Trev Deely Harley Davidson/Buell" in Vancouver B.C.
`04 XB9S ,29 000 kms.,three rear tires(burnouts only at tire change), two fronts and lot`s of oil and filter changes! and I ride it hard every day.

I LOVE TORQUE!!

'04 12R with 31K miles...

One failed stator (Probably caused by gear oil that maybe attacks yellow metals)

One failed primary output shaft seal. Caused by me dropping it into first from neautral w/o the clutch twice. Replaced in about 45 minutes under warranty.

One broken header stud, my fault.

13 sets of tires : ), three sets of brake pads (well, 2.5 sets so far I suppose)

I'll need to replace my oil pump drive gear by 40K.

I ride it hard. Trackday three weekends ago. About 17K of the 30K on it riding a very tight 11 mile stretch of canyon road having way too much fun. It sees 6K RPM regularly in all gears and keeps asking for more : ). Still uses next to no oil at all. Not even enough to add any between changes... Maybe 4oz per oil change?

Oh, I think I warped the front rotor at that trackday... Still looking into it.

Total repair costs so far...

~150 for the stator
Nothing for the shaft seal
Rotor is about ~150 with new mounting hardware.
One set of brake pads at ~$70.
11 oil changes at ~$35 each
13 sets of tires at about $250 after mounting...

I'm perfectly happy with it : ).

Oh, one broken belt... but it broke landing a jump and the current one has lasted 23K miles so far. I can't blame that poor belt.

Oh, and my dim light is out : )... I've got two sitting next to my keyboard : ).

'06 with 4k miles

Low blinker fluid (front and rear)
My antifreeze was empty
Loose muffler bearing

All those were relatively cheap to fix but the dealer gave me a good deal.

Actually the only problem I've had so far is broken parts from a wreck, and metal shavings on my speedo sensor (caused my speedo to read 0 MPH) which was easily cleaned off.
